“If you want "Old World Charm" then this is it.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

We stayed at the Old Bakery Inn for two nights whilst travelling around Tasmania. Really did enjoy our stay. Our rooms and in fact the whole Inn was full of "Old World Charm". The rooms were delightful. The room was clean and the bathroom although done up in period tiles etc was new and sparkling. Our room had an additional verandah (for wine and cheese) a delightful touch. Free parking which is always a bonus in a bigger city. This Inn is also close to the city and equally close to the gauge walking distance to both. Hosts were very nice and we had no noise issues as other guests seemed to have had. We did not eat here, only after reading the reviews, I think I regret doing so. Loved our stay.

Room Tip: If you have lots of luggage, ask for a ground floor.

I rang "The Old Bakery Inn" early afternoon to enquire about 1 night accommodation for that night, there was a suitable room and I was quoted a very reasonable price. On arrival the receptionist took us to our room and we were very pleasantly surprised, the room was delightful. Old world charm with modern facilities, spotless and with all the usual extras. Very comfortable and close to the CBD. No problem recommending this one.

Room Tip: Mum and I had a ground floor room with ensuite and single beds, just perfect for us. Shower good wat...

No noise, decor very tasteful, lovely bathroom and helpful and friendly hosts. Oh, and a great breakfast. Can't believe we got all this for the price. Don't be put off by bad reviews. I'm very particular and this is one of the nicest hotels we've stayed in during 3 weeks travelling. If this is 19th of TA's Launceston hotels the first 18 must be amazing!

Room Tip: We were in room 18 which is actually a triple room, with single bed through a large archway. One the...

We stayed here for 3 nights over christmas 2012 - our room was large, clean and comfortable... and we had no 'paper thin wall' issues previous reviewers have complained about. The building has been tastefully renovated to keep in tune with the site's heritage. There is also plenty of parking within the premises which is free for guests. The location of the hotel is excellent, and the owners are very helpful. We had a great time in launceston and would definitely stay here again if we come back. Thanks for a great stay!!

Room Tip: If you have a lot of luggage, then ask for a room on the bottom floor near the back carpark.

I heard the hotel was under new management (it wasn't), so I tried it again.

The hotel is very cheap, which is the main reason for my return, but there is a reason why it is so cheap. It is very noisy, not very good insulation it the walls. And when I brought this up with the manager he was very rude towards myself and my partner.

The building looks beautiful from the outside, but we sadly got a rude shock when we got to the room.

In my opinion, do yourself a favor and steer clear.

Person in room next to us decided to have a shower at 23:20 which woke us up and went on for 20 minutes. He then smoked in the courtyard and was talking to someone at the same time then went on to having a coughing fit in his room. The walls were so thin, it sounded like he was next to my pillow. The reception area has expensive antiques signs telling you 'not to touch! Why have them on display? Seems to be frequented by Tradies judging by the amount of yewts in the car park. Good point is that it's near to the Gorge.

Extremely quiet, very beautiful room and amazing value for money. We would expect to pay $200+ for this room, four poster bed, huge flat screen TV, all th edetails that you expect in a high end B&B. We wish we could have stayed longer, certainly highly recommended. We will be back as the location is walking distance to everything and the service was top notch.
