“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

never knew this place existed until a friend stumbled across it. Liked it so much we ended up going 2 weekends in a row! Staff are friendly and efficient, Food it great, menu is a little bit basic but servings are huge! Trust me, save room for desert! Yes it is a little out of town but certainly worth the drive! always seems to be busy.

“Disappointed, expected to purchase water”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

Visited Ilk yesterday (Sunday) and there were four in the party.

As usual food and drinks were great. The bacon and lentil soup I ordered was flavoursome, plentiful and filling. Everyone enjoyed their freshly prepared meals and drinks.

What was found disappointing was that after ordering meals, coffees and chai lattes when I went to the counter to request a jug of water for the table,I was told that tap water (iced or not) is not provided and we would have to purchase a large bottle of water. Really? Since when can't a cafe provide a simple jug of water? Doesn't have to be iced.

This really is a strike against the Ilk for what is otherwise an excellent cafe with wonderful fresh and tasty food and drinks.

“A little gem...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

Like many previous reviewers, we stumbled upon this lovely little café, when we were out scenic driving. It was well past lunchtime, more like 3pm+, plus, but this was not problem for the friendly staff at Ilk.
I am so pleased that we stopped....the food was a treat....fresh, tasty and I'd go back there tomorrow, but we will be heading south.
Highly recommended for those out seeing the sights, following the wine trail or locals, who haven't visited yet...yum :)
ps ...and the views across the river are beautiful too.

“Always busy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

Ilk is actually not in Launceston, but 18 kilometres north at Rosevears, in the West Tamar wine region. We pass it often, saying we must try it out. The parking area is always full so we felt it must be good food with plenty of repeat clientele.
We finally stopped for lunch the other day. The menu isn't expansive but the variety on offer is perfectly adequate for a luncheon choice. Our meal was great - the ploughmans lunch platter was delicious. We topped it off with a milkshake, using their own-made syrup varieties for flavouring.
Yes, a great little place to stop in a picturesque setting. We will be back.

“Faultless!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013 via mobile

A cute little cafe 20 minutes out of launceston. The view is stunning and directly facing the water, the staff were extremely accommodating and were happy to tell us about places to visit. I had the apricot and pear muffin which was to die for and my wife had the bacon and egg sandwich which came with tomato relish and was an absolute winner. At first glance the menu doesn't look extensive, but it doesn't need to be as everything on it is done to perfection.
