Prices are great, location is good and the place is fab!! Nothing too fancy but serves your needs perfectly. Staff are amazingly helpful and friendly and will help you with advise for all of Tasmania, not just Launceston

Stayed there for a night with 5 other friends. The staff is really friendly and helpful! They can suggest what to do on our quick stop in Launceston. We got the room in the top floor, the view is nice. The atmosphere is nice and artsy, bathrooms are very clean and the kitchen + common room are just perfect. Totally recommended!

I spent a week in total in the Arthouse before and after I did the Overland Track. It's in a nice old school building full of character.
The staff were friendly and pretty informative in planning the trek and where to go around Launceston.
Wi-fi was quick although it didn't work on my final day but that is because someone used up their monthly cap downloading movies unfortunately.

The room I stayed in didn't have any bunk beds which was lovely

There are a lot of people staying there in the longterm doing farmwork. This means the fridges are pretty packed and it can be a struggle to find spots to store your food.

If you a have a heavy suitcase you will have to climb a good few stairs.

But overall there is laundry area, kitchen, tv with most of the main channels, wi-fi and comfy beds. It's close to attractions. All you really want in a hostel.

Comes highly recommended.

You will never meet a more friendly and helpful staff! Whether it's something with your stay or if you need travel tips, they will give you what you ask for and more (in a hood way). Launceston isn't the most fun place on earth but I will miss this place because I will miss having conversations and getting help from this excellent staff.
Facilities are good. Free wifi, big tv-room with movies you can borrow. Kitchen is good and has a big dining area that also includes couches if you wish to not be disturbed by the tv.
It's clean and the atmosphere is great.
Definitely a recommendation!

I only stayed for in night at the Arthouse during by brief mid-week visit to Launceston.
When I phoned up to book a room I spoke to Grant, it was a nice friendly conversation with a couple of chuckles - it set the mood the mood quite nicely for my arrival.
When I arrived at the Arthouse it was to a warm smile and friendly conversation with the lady at reception. The communal area was lovely and spacious with comfy looking couches, and it looked to be a cool place to of stayed longer. Good vibes all round.

The room I stayed in was up the stairs, a nice spacious room with a double bed. The hostel is what it is - an cool old building with a few creaky floorboards and slightly wonky doorframes. I really did like the place.

A 5 minute walk over the bridge and you are into the city centre, but still far enough away from most of the traffic. I'm looking forward to my next visit :)

Room Tip: Away from the bathrooms - but then that's the same in any hostel!

We stayed in this hostel for three nights recently in a private double room (good size), and it was an absolute delight - the reception staff were incredibly helpful and friendly (an asset to the hostel), and the place itself never seemed too busy, actually quite quiet, homely & full of history (in a good way). Location is good - just across the river and about 10 mins from the Seaport and 20mins from the entrance to the gorge - the airport shuttle also drops directly there.
The hostel has a little outdoor area for eating & smoking (plus an upstairs balcony) and the 5-7pm $2 beer offer was a nice touch (from the nearby Boag's brewery). Bike hire is also available, plus there is free Wifi (bonus!)
After the hubris of our hostel experiences in Sydney, this place was a much needed respite & I want to return next year to explore more of the amazing Tassie.

Beautiful old style hostel. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. Great big rooms which we had to ourselves and really excellent wifi which was available throughout the Hostel.
There were 2 minor negatives regarding the showers which weren't great and the kitchen being slightly messy but that was more so as a result of other guests as opposed to staff.

I would definitely recommend the hostel as it was one of the best ones we stayed at throughout our holidays in Tasmania and throughout Australia.

Room Tip: We stayed in a dorm which was empty apart from us. Plenty of room.
