“Great stop if you are on the road”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2011

If you find yourself traveling between Melbourne and Adelaide for business or for fun (perhaps the Great Ocean Road) this is your best stop for a good nights sleep and an incredible meal!
After walking through town, and finding not much to eat, we headed back to hotel and sat down to literally one if not the best meal on our 2 week adventure in Australia.
The hotel/motel is owned and managed by a lovely couple. they will greet you, take care of you and all with a smile. Rooms are large, very clean, and made us smile as each room is named after a US State. (Funny for us Americans). This is definitely, a place to get a good nights sleep and a great meal.

The room was nice, we received wine and cheese on arrival. However, the spa bath was not clean and we chose not use. So a waste for wanting a room with a spa bath. Breakfast was not what I expected, I was expecting a little bit more for our package. Little bit of a drive to the main street for dinner.

Located about 3 hours away from us, this was a great choice of hotel to stay for a weekend getaway. Despite the wet weather,we still found lots to do - the room was very comfortable meals fantastic. Would definitely stay again!

A large group of us stayed here for a forum, and all our needs were catered to with a minimum of fuss. Excellent hospitality by the owner (who is also the mayor of the town).
The rooms are huge, some with a spa bath in the bathroom!
Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: The rooms with the spa baths were the most popular

Rather dated but large clean room with huge bathroom. Great big modern TV and comfortable King size bed. Watch out for the hot water, hottest we have ever come across. Lovely and quiet apart from until your neigbour flushes their toilet.

Room Tip: Go for the back of the complex if you can

This is the only hotel in the world, as far as I know, where your dinner is served in the off season by the town mayor! The accommodation is high quality, the food is incredible. New owner Steve Perryman (wife is Jaime) is the second son of a cray fisherman and bought the motel in late 2010. He has good contacts, so the food is superb. He has his "ways" of getting the best. You might think it's a bit out of town, but it's not. Steve is also the Mayor of Mount Gambier and a great bloke. You can be a bit confused by the different Quality Inns, so make sure you book Steve Perryman's place. It was the best accommodation we stayed in on a 5,000km trip from Brisbane to Melbourne to Adelaide and back to Brisbane.

Room Tip: King George Whiting fillets in Panko crumbs
