Built in 1933 the Empire Theatre of Toowoomba is worth a visit purely to enjoy the building itself.
I am currently involved in the Toowooba Eisteddfod which is being held in the theatre complex. The last show I attended was a local production of Aladdin involving about 100 children and adults. Despite the size of the cast, the stage never seemed to be crowded. For me at 188cm tall I must comment on the seating. It is wonderful with plenty of space between rows, unlike most theatres which seem to have been built for a medieval audience.
It has a wonderful group of volunteers who assist the staff to make your visit memorable. They even run tours of the theatre which are well worth while, because this is a beautiful building.
