“Does the job for an overnight stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012 via mobile

Rooms have been recently refurbished. And are modern and well appointed. However the rooms have poor lighting and feel very dark with dark timbers and furnishings. The darkness also makes the room feel small. The bathrooms are nice with a rock feature wall. The room smelt fairly musty but would be typical of the Mackay humidity. Would reccomend for an overnight stay but no longer

5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

We stayed in the 'Spa Suite' were quoted $185/night. When we arrived price was discounted to $175. This was just the first of the pleasant suprises. What a lovely room! The bed, the bath, the facilities, the location, the noise (what noise??) were all amazing! I spent a great deal of time time researching Mackay accomodation - I am (so I am told) an extremely critical and fussy person (don't tell my husband I admited it!). I could not have been happier with my choice. We were so impressed we booked a second night!

Room Tip: Ask for the spa suite!

A motel that has moved into the 20 th Century, refurbished in modern detail. Reception was friendly and a choice of 38 units that are in a U shaped construction. The rear units no traffic noise. Rooms are on the small size ,but a Queen and Single bed fits well in the space. Bathroom well designed and toilet and shower in a separate area. Large T.V. and plenty of extra blankets and pillows.Breakfast delivered to your Unit.
A great bonus was the small Neptune Restaurant and Bar.Good food and service, believed run by Italian family. Would stay here again ,for Sure.

Reception efficient and happy to help with anything. Rooms clean, beds very comfortable with lots of nice pillows not just the usual two for a queen. Perfect, I love lots of pillows. Big tv plus a dvd player. Enjoyed my stay and would return. This review is based on hotels in area.

I stayed here for about 2 months on work not bad at all i would agree with most of the comments from the post above. I would add try and get a room toward the back to avoid early road noise in the morning

Room Tip: rooms at back of complex are quieter

You probably have read my review on one of the other seedier motels on Nebo Rd in Mackay, now I wish to share a good news story on what I would class the best Motel you can get on the strip. Firstly the Manger ( Dave ) is a real gentleman, always willing to help and friendly. This is a great start, makes you feel welcome, they point out that there are two different styles of rooms the ones on the left are the Deluxe version of the ones of the right, it is worth the little extra if you are caught short ie no toothbrush or need a sewing kit go the left hand side. The rooms are fresh, beds are huge and very comfortable, some of the rooms are just for couples ( one king size bed ) and others have a queen and a single bed. The TV is generally in most rooms a 42” plasma ( plus a DVD player ) and in some of the rooms there is even a mini bar and that is reasonably priced. The bathroom is very modern, effort in the tiles is outstanding, not want you would expect from a motel on Nebo Road, remember what is said before, they don’t have to do anything really because the miners will take any room regardless, so to see a motel spend some money is good to see. The sink is outside the actual Bathroom and toilet so that is good when two of you are getting ready. Showers have plenty of pressure and the only thing I would say that is an issue the shower door opens out and all the water runs off onto the floor, which can then be slippy. ( they do have a bath mat/ towel thingy but how many times do you get in and forget to place it there! We have been there a few times and Dave seems to remember your name, how is that for customer service!!!! There is a small pool to get that cooling dip on a hot day, it has just been overhauled. If there are lots of families it would be a tight fit and there are few lounges. Karen and I are so happy when we drive in to Mackay and see the vacant sign lit up as we know we are going to get a great room, clean, good TV and an air con that will keep the room just right. What I also love about this place is the taxi fare is around $13 to the city centre, so bare this in mind when you try to book a hotel closer for a much higher rate things begin to even out pretty quickly. So don’t take my word for it give it ago and mention my review I may get a discount next time I go !!! ( well it was worth a try ! ).

Room Tip: Go for the more expensive left hand side.
