As a regular visitor to Coolangatta I have often thought it would be good to stay at this place at least once .... great location and a lot of history. So when I got the chance to stay for a few days in early October, I took it.

As written elsewhere, the location is fabulous - having a drink on the rooftop terrace is I think as good as it gets in Coolangatta .... the view is better than most places costing 2 or 3 times as much.

I also like the fact that its low rise ... no need to fuss with and wait for elevators and people.

So given the great location and very good value rates, you condition yourself and know that you will be getting pretty basic accommodation .... and thats fine. The room was clean and functional .... although I thought the beds were very tired and in need of replacement.

What disappointed and surprised me and I think is unacceptable though, at least in regard to the room I was in, a serious lack of basic property maintenance.

The shower screen was wonky and hard to close/open, the bathroom door wouldn't close, the window locks facing the veranda were broken, a very old lounge type chair in the room had a hole in the headrest section, just worn through over the years by hundreds of heads ... and they had a pillow slip draped over it to hide it! .... things that really should be attended to as a matter of course have just been ignored.

I did see though that the owners seems to be gradually renovating the rooms ,,, so presumably I was in an old one that will soon be up for reno.

I would happily go back for a visit ... but would try to determine whether they can book me into a renovated room.

Room Tip: Ask for an assurance that you have been booked into a renovated room.

Yes friendly, close to everything, big room! but the tiles in the bathroom had never been cleaned, the sink was hanging off the wall,to scared to use it as it might just come right off ,did inform the woman and she had a shock look on her face but looking at reviews on Google its been like that for some time. The shower -you get either HOT water or COLD ,cant adjust the bloody thing .There was a fight down stairs ,I think its the norm there, noisy loud swearing ,Left my phone charger in the power point never to be seen again! If your a Houso its a great motel other wise steer clear.

This is an old motel, reminiscent of the Gold Coast in the 60's/70's. There is no parking, so you need to park on the street, maybe some distance away and carry your bags. There is no lift so if you are on the top floor as we were then you also need to carry those bags up 3 flights of old rickety stairs.
The unit is spacious, as motels were in those days, with a separate lounge/kitchen area and bedroom. The kitchen had a microwave, toaster and hotplate, along with cutlery, crockery and some cooking utensils, which is good for the budget conscious, thought the motel's location on Marine Parade means there is no shortage of eating out options on the doorstep.
The door is key locked and the windows have no locks at all, so it is not very secure. Additionally there is no screens on the windows, which was quite unsafe in the bedroom as there was a bed below the opened window, with no bars or screen and a 3 storey drop to the ground below. I am kind of surprised this is actually legal.
There is airconditioning (noisy but it works) and ceiling fans. There was a flat screen tv. The bathroom is small and oldfashioned and a bit mouldy, but that didn't bother me. The beds were comfortable and we all slept well, and couldn't hear any noise from other apartments, just from the street below, which is fine.
This was a good, budget option for a booking over the Easter weekend when we weren't planning on spending much time in the room, just needed somewhere to sleep. It is across the road from the beach and the location is fabulous. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

This motel is a bit rough around the edges but is friendly & you cannot beat the location right across the road from the beach. It is clean & was perfect for my 1 night stay as I could easily walk to Coolangatta shops/bars/cafes. It is also very easy to take the bus to/from Gold coast airport too & is around the $5 mark one way. Lets hope this motel stays there for a while before a big time developer buys up this perfect spot. The NSW/QLD border is directly behind the motel marked byan impressive sculpture. The room has a kitchenette & tea/coffee making facilities. No safe in the room. A great choice for money without the frills of a fancy hotel.

We booked in to the Ocean View motel, because it was close to where we had to go. The location is good, the motel is old with not a lot of maintenance. We stayed Sat. and Sun. nights, 16th&17th) March, I was warned that they were having an art show on the roof, Sat. night, we were given a room on the top floor, just below where the drinking and nibbles were being served, as well as the DJ. We were told it should be finished by 10pm, so we figured that was fine, but at about 8.30pm all hell broke loose with swearing, fighting, pushing and eventually, 4 police cars and an ambulance in attendance. There was no apologies or discount for the discomfort and fear we felt.

Room Tip: If you want to be near the beach this is the one

perfect location along the coolangata beach and marina parade.. easy access to restaurant along the beach.

what make me so unsatisfied, this hotel so ran down in maintenance, maybe no maintenance.
i check in around 6pm, mount of used linen along the corridor... another shocked me, the door knob is half functioning and almost broken... wow wow wow, just keep finger cross for safety, while in the room.

utensils ( fork and spoons rusty) :(

no bad, complete coffee making set ( coffee, teas, creamer, sugar) microwave, kettle.paid AUD 75 ? worth or not... if any other better and cleaner place with almost same rate,,, dont stay here.
