If you've never stayed in a Bed and Breakfast before, this is the place to test it. As all the previous reviews testify, this is truly excellent value (we stayed in the Master Suite) with all the comforts of home, super hosts (nothing is too much trouble) and easy proximity to the fantastic Mon Repos Turtle Rookery (an absolute must if you are looking for a unique wildlife experience). The cooked breakfast is exactly what you always hope you'll get at a B&B, and if you want to know what poached eggs are supposed to look and taste like, this is where you'll find out.

As repeatedly stated before, this is a fantastic B&B, the room is large and very clean with a really comfy bed, a small couch to watch TV, huge dressing room, fantastic views over the surrounding cane fields from the lovely balcony, fantastic breezes cooling the room, great breakfast and very friendly and welcoming hosts!!
There is a very friendly dog who lives there too but we didnt notice any of the doggie smells that one reviewer has previously mentioned.

We stayed at Rubyanna Rise for a week in the Fairymead Room. Firstly, the room was excellent with the most comfortable bed we've slept in on our trips away. The room overlooked the cane fields and had a dedicated balcony and cool breezes. The breakfasts were brilliant with pancakes and a full english breakfast, juices and cereals on offer which is included in the price of the room. Our hosts Margaret and Brian are locals and can advise on activities and good restaurants. We were treated like family and the other guests we spoke to agreed. If we needed something Margaret found it for us and we will be definately staying there on our next visit. They have a suite available especially for those travelling with a pet which is a thoughtful touch. This is the first B & B we'e stayed at and being Margaret and Brian's guests is sooo much better than staying in a hotel

Room Tip: The suites are set up to suit different demographics. We had a couples suite, and there are other s...

What a great review you have given us and we appreciate it very much. It was a pleasure to have you for the week as you fitted in like family.
We love having people so easy to get along with and after a week with us we miss them when they leave.
The Fairymead room is a lovely room and it seems to give off happy vibes as everyone sleeps well and loves the view.
We look forward to catching up with you if you visit later on this year.

The room was large and very clean and the hosts could not have been more accommodating. The breakfast was also very nice. Even though it is out of town this was not a problem especially for those travelers with a vehicle. Even though I flew into Bundaberg I was picked up from the airport by the owner and dropped off next morning for less than the taxi fare to the city. The surrounding countryside is very pretty and in itself very relaxing. Do yourself a favour and stay there you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for letting everyone know we are happy to do the taxi service if notified in advance. We are just one the edge of town on the way to Bargara Beach so only about 6 minute drive into Bundaberg. We like guests to see our beautiful district and if possible and Brian will try his best to find time to help guests without a car to see around for only the cost of petrol.
Almost every guest comments on the quiet and the view from the upstairs rooms and we agree it is a great way to start the day.
Thanks for staying with us.

We loved our night in very comfortable surrounds. Very friendly host in Margaret. We turned up at 7pm unannounced, without a booking. This was no problem. Great smells were coming from the kitchen... The beds were very comfortable and nice to have a couple of couches and a tv to sit and relax in the master bedroom. Woke to lovely views over the cane fields through the early morning mist, with brilliant sun shining through. Everything we needed was provided.
Went downstairs to a fantastic cooked breakfast. Traveling for work can be a chore, but this was an enjoyable night. Will use next trip to Bundy and advise others in our company to do the same. We felt like we had a night at home. If you are still deciding... Go, you will be very happy. Great value and comfort.

Thanks for the great review and sorry I hope you will be able to stay with us again even if it is while working.
I do find that people who travel a lot with work enjoy the home atmosphere we have and that is what a B&B is all about to us.
I hope the Melbourne weather has been kind since you were here as we have enjoyed beautiful weather the last couple of months.

On arrival, our host Brian met us in the driveway (in the dark/rain) with a friendly handshake & greeting and assisted with our luggage. He showed us to our room which was upstairs by way of a carpeted staircase to the Master bedroom (situated at one corner of the house). It has ensuite and a huge dressing room. The internal walls are brick and we didn't hear a sound from outside of our room all night. Bedroom is very spacious and has a two seater lounge at one end of the bed which is handy for relaxing or watching a bit of TV. The white timber louvres at the head of the bed around the windows gave the room a homely feel to it, and the views from the balcony are spectacular, particularly if you are not accustomed to the spectre of canefields all around.
I'll probably cop it for bringing this up, but this is a pet friendly B&B as stated by the owners. So if you are a non pet person as I am, just be warned that you will be greeted by a very subtle doggy smell as you walk past the pet sleeping quarters AND up the stairs to your room. Pet owners are often oblivious to this odour and will commonly deny its existence. It is for this reason that I generally avoid animal friendly B&B's. [We have had some bad experiences at B&B's with dogs in the dining room and doggy poo all round the front door etc]. Happily I can say that in this case it was not in any way offensive, but as soon as I walked out of the bedroom or through the front door I could smell dog, and since I'm a believer in telling it how it is I have mentioned it here. Apologies to all you animal lovers including my wife who think I'm a fusspot.
For me this was not the Holy Grail of B&B's, however it is pretty good.
I didn't mention the food because we never ate in, choosing to eat with friends down the road. This was no reflection on the B&B itself in any way, simply our choice.

Room Tip: We loved the Master bedroom - views, comfort, appearance, spacious, quiet.

Thank you for staying with us not only on your way north but on your return trip home. That always gives us confidence that our rooms are comfortable and homely. We agree that the view from the balcony is spectacular even to us and it is a beautiful way to start your day overlooking the green cane fields.
We acknowledge that choosing to be pet friendly has its issues and regret that the non pet friendly people may be turned away because of this. However we are very careful to separate the only pet friendly room guests are able to use. This is the downstairs room where pets are allowed in the tiled lounge room off the bedroom but is part of their suite and not a shared use area.
As this suite is at the back of the house no noise or pets affect the guests in the upstairs suites. The upstairs suites are not pet friendly and the area you mention is in the downstairs foyer entry area.
Our dog is allowed in this area during the day when guests are not usually around. However we find many guests love her as she has a beautiful gentle nature and enjoy her tricks when she does have contact with guests in the foyer area that are pet people. They often comment on how well trained she is.
We are aware that many guests are non pet people and we appreciate that they are not at all happy with pet contact. We do our best to have our home able to be enjoyed by both pet lovers and those who would rather not have pets around at all.
We are happy to discuss the issue of pets with guests as they arrive and we lock our pets totally away from them without a problem.

My Husband and I had a wonderful time here! The bed was super comfy the room was huge and had absolutely everything we could have possibly needed! The supplies in the room were plentyful and extensive. The breakfast was delicious and the host were wonderful. It felt like visiting family! They also have the biggest pool table I have ever seen! If we are ever in Bundy again we will definately be staying here.
