“Italian influenced fine dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2014

Centro offers first class dining with service too match. wine list is comprehensive, never a disappointment. Try the bruschetta to start. Follow with one of the flavoursome pasta dishes or steak and fish dishes all cooked to perfection as you would expect with outstanding flavour. Strawberry cheesecake followed by macchiato topped off a great Wedding Anniversary. Staff are attentive yet never intrusive...When next visiting Wollongong make Centro a must visit you will always be made to feel welcome.

“Very good dishes with matching wine by the glass a real winner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2013

We lunched at Centro CBD and were impressed by both the decor, service, food and wine. Our rating is a very good PLUS! My wife's slow cooked duck Maryland (2 of them) with risotto, pine nuts and asparagus was divine and my seafood marinara lovely. We had a glass of wine from the menu each which perfectly complemented our food. We will definitely be back.

“Fabulous food without the fuss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

This is a restaurant that is always on our 'where will we eat radar' as I find the food and service wonderful. Predominately Italian inspired menu that does not fail to inspire.
The wine list is extensive and there is a wine for all tastes and budgets.
The restaurant can be noisy but this is no different to most others.
Our waitperson Damian is always professional and unobtrusive and well informed with regards menu items.
Suitable for business, family or friends occasions.

“An Enjoyable Get Together Venue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

We had a party of 14 friends and opted for the Table de Hote menu (2 course $45, 3 course $52). The Menu is strongly Italian with a good selection of 5-6 items in each course. The quality of the service was good, from the initial greeting through ordering and delivery. We were all very satisfied with the quality of the food. Meal portion sizes were suitable and satisfying for the three courses. Those looking for larger portions of Italian dishes may not be quite satiated. Given the diversity of our parties' drink needs we were happy for these to be ordered and paid for separately at the well stocked Bar. The wine list was extensive with both Australian and Italian wines on offer with a good range of wines available by the glass, which suited our party. Lack of soft furnishing to absorb sound makes it nosier than you would like for an intimate dinner experience.

“Middling food, average service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

We recently held a function at Centro CBD. I have never eaten at the actual restaurant before, and I'm sure that could be quite good. However the function centre is decidedly uninspiring.

The lights were dimmed almost to the point of causing exhaustion. The tables are all at the back of the room, and the dancefloor is at the front, meaning people dancing feel and look rather exposed on the dancefloor area that is far too large for the number of people the tables could accommodate. The bar is in the back corner, meaning people tend to naturally congregate in one corner of the room.

The entrees were absolutely miniscule, a standard boring antipasto platter that at a normal restaurant would be to serve 2-4 people, was made to serve 10. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

The main courses varied between fairly tasty (veal) and extremely uninteresting (chicken). The chicken dish was literally chicken, sauce, mash, and (get this!) an entire half avocado. Not mashed, sliced or anything. Just cut in half, minus the core.

The dessert, their "famous" baked Alaska, is a silly over-the-top affair with loud music, but the food itself was boring icecream, and cream.

And the bar ran out of red wine...

Pleasant enough, made better by the company, but overall, I would never consider it for my own function.
