This would have to be, without doubt, the absolute worst Motel ever encountered in my life. For example:-

No hot water (I notice that someone else has reviewed it as having no hot water at least 2 week's previously).

No power on the first day.

Management impossible to find.

Air conditioning was absent. The only air conditioning was open doors and windows and run the fan!

Room was dirty.

Had to take garbage to the dumpster because it hadn't been cleared.

Milk that was in the fridge was off and out of date.

When we stayed a large number of guests had their cars broken into and goods stolen.

An interesting sideline was that discounts were offered for CA$H.

Thirrool is a beautiful location with wonderful people, however it is a shame that this business effectively demolished the genuine good will and customer service provided by other businesses in the area.

Champion effort that. Get EVERY guest that we encountered during our stay off side! This is truly an amazing effort, possibly unduplicated even at Faulty Towers!! Perhaps John Cleese got a measure of inspiration from this "establishment".

  • Liked — Departure
  • Disliked — Having goods stolen from my motor vehicle and no one from management seemed to care less about our loss, NOR the loss of the other guests who also lost goods. Even my dog would feel uncomforatable in these surroundings!

We drove past the Thirroul Beach Motel on the 30th of December and spent a fantastic night in the one room still available. Drove southwards as planned the following day and spent a miserable evening in a much more posh hotel in Merimbula eating a $30 pizza and watching The Biggest Loser Finale. We knew what we had to do and the next morning arose at 4.30am to commence the 400km drive BACK to Thirroul... back to the Thirroul Beach Motel. Upon (re)arrival on new years eve, the lady behind the desk (we don't know her name but refer to her as `Margie') asked us if we had plans for n.y.e and when we responded that we'd probably just be heading down to the local pub she asked had we heard of a band called De La Soul .... and that they were playing in the neighboring town... and then called the venue and found out times, entry, etc.... !!!!!! We stayed on another two nights following and time permitting would have stayed longer. We loved the peeling paint, the view from the window, the breeze, the anonymity, the proximity to the beach and the loveliest pub in the world up on the hill. It suited us perfectly and we can't wait to return. Wish we were there now.

  • Liked — The pink paint
  • Disliked — That we had to leave

We stayed for one night. That was one night too long.
Located on busy road. Room was very poor standard. All walls painted bright pink and even the drain in bathroom was painted pink. Quilt cover was torn and very damp. Bathroom was poor with no basin. Shower head spayed water all over bathroom and toilet. Reception was always closed. TV had poor reception.
Carpets were relatively clean. Need to demolish Motel and rebuild.

We are locals who stayed here at short notice when the fumes from the newly polished floors became too much one evening so we said we would have a night away.
We stayed here and it was absolutely terrible.
All of the above comments are accurate and with hindsight we would have been better off to stay home with the windows and doors open. This place is an embarrassment to the town and is always full which only shows what they could do if they even cared.
Thirroul is a great place to visit but stay in any other place but Thirroul Beach Motel
