The calm peaceful temple evokes a spiritual aura. The architecture and the icons are great. There is a section for practicing Chinese calligraphy......enjoyable experience ......must visit place for one and all.

“Cultural”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2013 via mobile

Temple was our first stop from Sydney to Wollongong for a short break. Second visit in a few years. Got there for an early lunch which we had in the ground floor Tea House, rather than the Dining Room as we did on our last visit. The food was fantastic - try the vegetable curry, the fancy tea was amazing and so beautiful to look at, the lady taking orders - beautiful lady and with all the time in the world for you, and the ambience befitting the Asian Buddhist dining experience. If going for a meal, which you should, try the Teahouse. More choice and the whole experience different. The buildings, gardens and water features are wonderful. The walking could be difficult for older people. Only down side was the traffic noise you get from some parts of the property. This would be the best day or half day out in the Illawarra area by a long shot.

“Amazing Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2013

Visited several times and leave with the same feeling of peace and tranquility. The grounds are beautiful and the view spectacular. Lots going on in there from meditation to cooking classes. Had the veg lunch and enjoyed with our overseas non-vegie visitors.

“Mixed experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013

Gardens are marvellous. Unfortunately no picnics allowed. Advise against the cheap food that is bad quality. It's a tourist tour bus haven with not sufficient Buddhist content to offer. Beware of paying $$$ to offer candles to the Buddhas in the main shrines - as a Buddhist I am ashamed that candles are actually sold in this way as it creates the wrong impression. The Lodge is an ok place to stay the night but the staff can be a bit uptight...
