“Old and shabby cabin”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

Stayed one night here en route from the Gold Coast to Sydney. The cabin we stayed in was old and shabby, with a musty smell. The decor looks unchanged from the 70s. The sliding front door was hard to open. Almost no power points for charging cameras, phones, laptops etc. It had the smallest, oldest CRT TV I have seen in a long time. On the other hand, it was reasonably clean, and had a good location - walking distance to shops and the beach.
Would I stay here again? - no. I’d suggest finding a serviced apartment or other accommodation in Port Macquarie if you are staying for any length of time.

We stayed in January 2013. This was our first visit to this park. Top prices paid for very poor facilities. The rubbish bind were always full and smelly. Only one washing machine that actually worked. Rude, unhelpful staff. More staff required in every area. The most serious complaint is the lack of security. There needs to be a high fence around the property to keep the passing 'riff raff' out of the park. Lots of noisy teenagers swearing and behaving poorly at night. How this park obtained a Big4 status is beyond me.

We decided to stay there even after reading and thought we would give it a go. We stayed in the cabin and to be honest I would hate to stay there during the summer as there is no fans or air con.. First impression, it stunk and was not cleaned well at all, the cleaner should be sacked. I actually cleaned it myself and take your own febreeze or air freshner to get rid of the musty smell. The sheets, yes they were clean but the bed cover had a terrible smell and I'm sure it had not been washed prior to us being there. We decided to go for a walk around the park and man what a shock that was. If you are thinking of staying there and have not got your own toilet in your caravan don't bother as my little one needed to go to the loo and to be honest it would have been cleaner doing your business outside. The floors were dirty and there were leaves all over the place, the toilet it's self was brown grubby and stunk, looks like those really bad toilets you see in American movies. I'm sure it has not been cleaned in over a month. We stay and travel at a lot of big 4 and really I don't know how they can class it as that when it was far from it.
My advice would be stay elsewhere.

This is the worst holiday park we have stayed at. Admittedly, we camped and the location really is superb. You can hear the waves breaking at night, but a word of advice.......ask to be located away from the skate park!!! So, one positive - located a short stroll to the city centre and heaps of lovely shops and cafes, very close to a patrolled beach and right on the breakwater. Great running track. So - the positive is location! Now the negatives.....where to start? There is no shop on site. You need a key for the ablutions....not a good sign? The ablutions are an absolute disgrace. For three days in a row, all but one toilet ran out of toilet paper! You would think they would check or clean twice a day in peak season? Facilities are very old, not cleaned properly and in desperate need of repair. Goodness knows they could afford it charging $50 per night for a camp site? The park is also not secure, there is no fence and people can just come and go from the breakwall as they please. Not good for young children. We stayed over Easter. The park was busy and unfortunately there were lots of ferals, cussing a range of four letter words all night, leaving rubbish around, which was never picked up. The rubbish bins are overflowing and stink. There is no maintenance whatsoever! They charge $4 per wash cycle but only one washing machine works. Again, you would think they would fix this, especially for high season? Such a shame! Could be fantastic. Hopefully it'll come up for sale and we or somebody else can buy it and do it up? For a BIG 4, this is inadequate. We had a great time but only because of location and the friends we were with. Think I'll try a different park next time?

Room Tip: If you do have to stay, ask to be close to the breakwall but far enough away from the local council...

My family & I stayed in a powered site for 2 nights. The location was terrific. The ladies amenities however, were not cleaned for at least 1 of the days which was very disappointing. There was only 1 staff member at the front desk at both checkin and check out and at both times it was very busy. The pool was not heated and the playground was looking worse for wear. The main concern however was the lack of security. The park is easily accessible from the public walkway which runs adjacent to the park. I'm not surprised theft is an issue. We probably would prefer not to stay here again.

This park is right on the beach, 5 minute walk to shops, fantastic location. We had a lot of rain while we were there, but there appeared to be no maintenance for the whole week. In fact, someone dropped off a hand mower and we had to mow around our own vans! It is boggy, grass and weeds long, pot holes on the roads, rubbish bins overflowing, graffiti in the amenities, no security, larrikins running through the park at night banging on our vans. Very disappointing for a Big 4 Park

What a waiste of a beautiful spot! You certainly could not complain about the position of the park - located in walking distance to the town centre, restaraunts the beach etc. But the amenities were so disgustingly dirty and very poorly maintained. The cabins look to be in no better state if you could access them over the dirty piles of laundry left in the streets all day.
But in saying this it still does not seem to stop people visiting - I would only assume it is not repeat business. What a shame!
