“ocean views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

My husband and I have just come home after a 2 night mid week special at The Obsrvatory.
We had a really nice hotel room with a small balcony facing the ocean. The room was very clean and nicely appointed. King size bed and plenty of storage space for your bits and pieces.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and this was very noticeable especially as they had to come to our room to help us get in as it appeared our security card wouldn't work. We do seem to have troubles with those cards!!!
Overall it was in a lovely location and being so close to the beach made it very convenient to go for a walk along the beachside footpath. Would I go there again? You bet!!

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights in early January and fell in love with the place. We thought the hotel was in the best possible area looking over on to Town Beach which was simply stunning.
It's only a short 2 minute drive to the town centre and you can walk it easily. I would much prefer to stay slightly out of the town centre in front of the beautiful Town Beach and just down the road from the Maritime Museum and Oxley Beach.
Our room was on the smaller side, but still clean, fresh and beautiful and the balcony looking directly to the beach was ultimately what won us over.
Our room was pretty quiet but couldn't help but think the walls might be thin as we could hear the children next door if they started crying but it didn't really bother us.
Also you use your room card to open one big door & walk in to a smaller hallway with the entrance to two hotel rooms, so you don't constantly have people walking back and forth down the hallways outside your room like many other hotels.
I'd definitely stay here again and wouldn't change a thing. Sleep in during the mornings, visit the many different beaches during the day, come back to the hotel to have a relax in the afternoon and have fish & chips outside the hotel in the grassy area looking out on to Town beach for dinner, absolute bliss!

Room Tip: Definitely try book the Ocean view room. That's what made it 5 out of 5 for me!

I made the reservation through a deal I got with the Getaway Lounge. Even though I basically got the accommodation half price for three nights, I was not disappointed. The staff treated us as if we had paid full price. Bottle of red wine, handmade chocolates and fruit platter was waiting for us when we arrived. Free wifi and DVDs, free half day bike hire, free secure parking. Everything that was offered in our package was given with a smile, no extra hidden costs anywhere.
We stayed in a hotel room with ocean views. Over three nights though it probably would have been more comfortable in a one bedroom apartment, but the room had a comfortable and clean king bed, kettle, toaster, small fridge and hairdryer. There was a restaurant downstairs and bowling club buffet just around the corner.
The beach was just a stroll across the street, and the town centre was also a short stroll with waterviews.
Highly recommended. Great location.

My husband and I had a two night deal to stay at this hotel in a king balcony room, which we enjoyed very much. Everything was clean and well maintained and we enjoyed swimming in the indoor heated pool. The staff were very friendly and helpful and secure parking is included in the tariff. The hotel is well located with a beautiful view and close to walking tracks and within 15 minutes walk to the CBD and restaurants. We had a divine meal at The Stunned Mullet, which is about 5 minutes walk away.

Highly recommend this lovely hotel with the best views over Town Beach. The reception staff were cheerful and polite and very willing to help with all our requests. Scampi's Seafood restaurant and the coffee shop had top class meals and service. Great central location. Clean rooms including some yummy chocolates on the bed. Safe, secure, everything you need for a great holiday. Will definatley be back.

We booked our Accommodation only 2 weeks before we went. We were unable to get an Ocean-View Room, but were given a very nice 1 Bedroom Tower room. The accommodation was very nice and well appointed. The Hotel is located in such a great spot across from Town Beach. There is an in ground heated pool and spa + a sauna. All very nice. The reception staff we very welcoming and helpful as were the housekeeping staff. The Hotel has high standards and the property is kept very clean and tidy. The only thing that was not good was the bed was rather uncomfortable and probably needed to be replaced. Also there is great under covered secure parking.

Room Tip: If you book earlier enough you may be able to get an ocean front room.

I would definitely stay again.
I stayed in a one bedroom apartment (202-2) which had an ocean view. It was clean, modern, spacious and looked exactly like it did on the website.
The bed was comfortable.
The bathroom was a little on the small side, but as I was travelling alone and didn't need to share this was not a problem for me. The shower had fantastic water pressure (despite the water saving shower head).
As a female travelling solo on business, the double door security system was also very reassuring and the chocolates on the bed was a nice touch.
If there was one negative thing I could find it would be that the air conditioning unit located in the lounge room was not strong enough to keep the bedroom cool. Fortunately I was able to open the verandah door and allow the night breeze in.
