“Take in the view of the river and relax with a glass of wine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2014

We stayed for several nights in a king suite with verandah and this proved well worthwhile as it was great to sit out in the evening, take in the view of the river and relax with a glass of wine. The room was well set up and very adequate although we were disappointed with the shower which had very restricted water flow. The sign asked guests to restrict showers to three minutes, however this was difficult to achieve.
Some fridge space would have been helpful not just full of mini bar.
The front desk staff were helpful, bar staff, not so.
We ate at “Zebu” and the food was excellent, however when you order a steak with chips in duck fat (4) and mushroom sauce, you would hope for something else on the plate to make a meal ..... not so and not a green in sight!
Too many extras; Internet, parking, breakfast components, dinner components etc., etc.

Room Tip: We stayed on level two, would have liked to be higher due to pool noise.

Hi RobertLM,

Pleased you stayed with us and enjoyed your king veranda suite. I have passed your comments on to maintenance regarding the water flow. Apologies for any inconvenience or dissatisfaction this caused you during your stay!
That’s great you enjoyed your steak! We have been receiving good feedback about the quality beef we use. Concerning the lack of greens on your plate; I can appreciate your feedback on that and have mentioned your comments it to our food and beverage department.

I hope you come and see us again soon. Please contact me directly if you would like a reservation in the near future and I will do my best to make sure your next stay is as best as we can make it.

Thank you

Rydges is in a fantastic position, walk to everything. As far as our room was concerned it was abit of a disappointment. It was not particularly clean and the whole place feels like it is due for a refurbishment. I visited the Dayspa attached to the hotel & would recommend it to anyone.

We've stayed here a few times now. Everything is great. Only a few small things, kettle leaked but got replaced, would have liked balcony upgrade if not busy but think there was a wedding on. Overall a nice stay.

We stayed just one night on our way home from holidays. It was a delightful experience. The room, 418, was lovely; Dinner in the dining room with dolphins swimming was perfect. I would loved to have stayed longer.

thank you.

Room Tip: book early! and ask for a view of the water.

This hotel is in a good position and car parking is convenient under the hotel. It was generally good but nothing at the hotel stood out particularly. Port Macquarie is an early settlement town and we found the history there interesting.
There is an excellent fish and chips place next door.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014

Rydges, Port Macquarie, was our stopover driving from Brisbane to Sydney. Our room had views over the breakwater, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed walking along the walkway and then a drink and pizza in the bar, as we had a Sunday night special which included the room and a meal in the bar. The pizzas were good, and the bar quite lively. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. We were on the lower floor, ocean view, and had no problems with noise from the disco or bar. The free parking on the street is VERY limited so we had to pay $10 for underground parking but the desk staff were very helpful in ensuring we could easily find a parking space. We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Would pay the extra for an ocean view again.

I stayed 4 nights on a business visit. The location is great with the waterfront, close-by restaurants, shops and more importantly 3 min walk to the conference centre/art gallery. It is clean and breakfast is ok. The 'superior waterfront view' room I got on the 2nd floor was pretty ordinary. Interesting name given that there's nothing superior about it for the premium I paid. Yes one could see the Hastings river far away but not before your eyes first meet the hotel pool and some part of the hotel (maybe kitchen) obstructing the 50% of the view. So don't get fooled by the fancy description.

Hi Anan2012,

Appreciate your feedback.

Firstly I’m glad you found our central location beneficial and an advantage during your stay.

Regarding the superior room viewpoints; the rooms are located on levels one to four. We try and room guests as high up as possible but I’m sorry in this case that we were unable to get you any higher than level two. I can understand your position and apologise for any discomfort caused.

Please contact us directly if you would like to stay at a later date.

Regards
