“Hiddem Gem, great location and good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2010

Perfect location, close to HVG and Harrigans. Friendly, pleasant and helpful owner. Suites were more than adequate with breakfast hamper thrown in. Great value $125 for Sunday night (with b'fast hamper included) booked thru Wine Country. Relaxed on our verandah and ventured to watch the sun set behind the mountains in one of the paddocks. Beautiful view of surrounding paddocks and vineyards. Blissfully quiet... don't know what the other reviewers problem is.... sounds like a whinger to me. Had a memorable (pleasant) stay and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Dogs were fine and a homely addition to the property... no noise even when it rained very heavily in the middle of the night???

The owner has no respect for privacy as we came back one day and caught him showing two people through our room.Another night his dogs barked several times waking us when speaking to him he said they dont bark of a night, how would he know as he doesnt stay on site of a night. To top our stay off another day at 7 in the morning he woke us up with a loud noise from him draging a bar-b-Q along the rock pathway behind our room, when fronting him over it he said he wonted to put it away before it got wet so it wouldnt rust (there was no rain in sight, never rained at all that day). He also said to us when he arrives there in the morning he starts working around the place (guess we were lucky we missed out on him doing the mowing ). On our departure the owner told us if we were comming back to the Hunter to stay to stay some where else next time.
I have taken these issues up with the Hunter Valley Wine Country Visitor Information Centre who sent me the information about this place and it has a 4 1/2 star AAA rating. I feel they should do another rating on this place. The centre said they will be investigating my complaint and getting back to me.

Realised I had not commented on our short stay in August 2008. The rain was pouring down, however, this did not diminish our stay in the Hunter Valley.

We were greeted by the owner who was friendly and helpful. He showed us to our room which was spotless and very comfortable. He even provided some cds for us to listen to.

Supplies were left for us to cook our own breakfast, bacon, eggs, etc which was delicious.

We will definitely be back.

We arrived in the Hunter Valley without booking any accommodation. After visiting the Information Centre for accommodation ideas, we came across the Grapevine Villas. After being shown the Deluxe Villa, we were blown away. This villa is like something out of a Home & Living magazine. It was a home away from home, just even better!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there of 2 nights. Michael and his loyal Lab, Chloe, delivered us fresh bacon, eggs, bread and orange juice each day for us to enjoy in the morning. The modern kitchen, spacious living area and fantastic deck (complete with barbie and stunning peaceful views), made it a great place to kick back and relax. Definitely recommend!

  • Liked — The beautiful surroundings, the stunning villa, the great linen, and Chloe & the friendly hosts.
  • Disliked — Everything was perfect!
