“Worth returning to”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

I'm a local in pokolbin and visit oishii quite regularly. Their food is fresh tasty and not badly priced compared to other restaurants in the hunter valley. I absolutely love it whether it is take away or dine in with my friends. Every time is perfectly delicious!

“Top quality food not matched by its service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

The Japanese food was sensational and extremely good value for money. Located in the very trendy Tempus winery with other restaurants and bars. This funky warehouse style interior was a very nice atmosphere. We were recommended to go to this restaurant from friends who had visited before, but advised by locals at the hotel that the service was poor. Well both we're right. The food part you could not fault and with 10 of us with many different dishes all commented how good the food was. However there front of house waiting staff were appalling, they were very young immature girls with very little experience or training, lacking basic table waiting skills and etiquette. They were very slow from the moment we walked in and didn't even try and get water or drinks to the table, by wondered back after 10 minutes to take food orders without a single drink on the table. The entrees came out bit by bit and some had nearly finished by the time the last one arrived. Once mains put on the table the service completely disappeared for the rest of the time, not once did they come back to offer more drinks or even desert, and making eye contact with they was impossible. We basically had to chased them up for the bill and still had the dirty plates on the table. Food was 10 out of 10 but service was 1 out of 10. The owners could have a fantastic restaurant if they changed or trained there waiters. Even after we had left the waiting staff were shutting up 1/2 hour later and the girls were so immature that they were squealing and playing tug a war with each other trying to lock up the restaurant , it was such a bad look. I would go back for the food but if you want a fine dining experience you are not going to get it here.

“Fresh & Delicious!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

After a big couple of days tasting food & wine, Oishii made a refreshing change to the usual with beautifully presented fresh food in good size portions. Ring ahead though as indoor seating is limited.

“Fantastic Meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

I have never been let down the many times I have dined here. I always leave full and the staff always make me feel welcome. I look forward to dining there again.
I always enjoy bringing family and friends to here.

“Nice food overlooking vineyards”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

I agree with previous posts that the interior is a little stark but the very large outdoor balcony, shared with a neighboring restaurant, bar and shops is perfect on a sunny day. Nevertheless it's the food that is the most important and Oishii do perfect Thai. My wife enjoyed her chicken green curry and I had a chicken pad thai. We loved them!
