“Weak - Overpriced - McDonalds has better service!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2011

We were recommended Amanda's as a great restaurant that provided an amazing menu and great service. Our experience was very different. The service was terrible. We were seated practically in the hallway entrance and the waitresses kept bumping into our table as they screeched past to serve other people. Before we even got entrees we had paid $20 on corkage and later found out the dinner rolls we were scoffing because the entrees took 40 mins to arrive were actually not free dinner rolls they were $2.50 each!!!! So before even starting we were $30 down. We had to pour our own wine and then unfortunately the very exciting sounding meals we received were weak at best. We would have walked out after entrees but they have a 2 course minimum rule so we hung around for our uninspiring mains. Definately would not return.

“Great way to spend a Sunday Afternoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2011

I visited Amandas last Sunday with a group of friend for a leisurely Sunday Lunch. We had the most wonderful time, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and beautiful food. I live in the area and had heard good things about this restaurant previously but this was my first visit. It most certainly won't be my last. Everything on the menu looked devine. I had the crab and bug bisque for an entree which was delicious, the garlic prawns also looked wonderful and the stuffed mushroom. For main try the lamb - melts in your mouth. The toffee brulae for dessert if also a must. We had a 1pm booking and didn't actually leave until 5pm (not due to slow service but due to us enjoying coffee, cocktails and some fine local wines after our meal). We felt quite comfortable hanging around the staff were most welcoming, not trying to push us out the door and quite happy for us to continue with our long lunch. Roberts has always been my first choice in the Hunter, but I think I've found some good competition with the menu at Amandas.

“Comfortable and scenic setting.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2011

We have eaten at this place several times over 3 years and cant quite believe that the menu has not changed!! So we will not be returning till we know it has changed! If I have to have the curry one more time :-(

The desserts are famous and the atmoshere is nice although a little noisy at times. Try to go when there arent kids running in and out of the restaurant (waitress should have said something)

Is very popular so make sure you book.

“Nice view, but way overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2010

My wife and I went to Amanda's a few weeks ago on a recommedation. While we weren't expecting a 5 star experience, we did however expect a lot more than we got. The service was subpar (perhaps because they had one waitress and one helper for the whole dining room). We got the squid starter, and when it arrived, we both just laughed. Maybe two or three bites later, it was gone and it cost $21.00. The main course was nice, though two side items that we had ordered were never delivered.
I think the worst part was the constant ringing on the phone. Every 5 minutes this really loud phone rang and it was positioned in the middle of the dining room. Very annoying.

“Fab place, though a bit tricky to find in the dark”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2010

Great. Super food, great ambiance, helpful staff. Lots of choice. Would recommend you check out where it is in the daytime, which we did. It's not very well lit and alongside a farm and down a track. Don' t be deterred by that.
