“Overall a very pleasant stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

I had no idea what to expect coming here as there is such a polarised mix of reviews on TripAdvisor. I was pleased though that the overall quality of my stay here was enjoyable.

Cons:
*Shower was a bit fiddly to get the right balance of jot and cold
*Rooms are not very isolated from noise (through the door and also could hear TV of neighbouring room through wall)
*I can understand why other reviewers commented on this place not being 5 stars and that the websites language allan be a bit misleading to the level of brilliance... But like I've said, overall this is not a bad place.

Pros:
*Very pleasant hostess
*Rooms and rest of guesthouse is very nicely presented/decorated
*Bed and bedding quite comfortable
*Nice surrounds
*Breakfast is nothing lavish, but made for a very filling and enjoyable start to the day. Yogurt, cereal, toast with preserves and a hot drink coffee/tea/chocolate.
*Nice to be able to enjoy the private balcony and common lounge room which has a fire place, couches, music and chess.
*Convenient locations to great wineries, chocolate and cheese.
*Great light blocking curtains to help with a good sleep in.
*Late standard checkout time of 11 am.
*Brilliant DVD collection.
*Air conditioner is really strong.

We booked this accommodation for a concert. We paid $450 a night (total $900) with a minimum two night stay. The concert was cancelled and subsequently we tried to cancel the accommodation. Unfortunately we were refused full refund and were advised we would lose 30% of the total price so we were given a voucher to use within a year. This guesthouse is definitely not a five star and $900 for 2 nights is definitely overpriced. We arrived at the guesthouse just before 4:30PM and were not offered the canapés and wine that were included in the deal. The breakfast was minimal. The pool was filthy and not pristine. Donna greeted us on our arrival - that was the only and last time we ever saw her during our stay - she was never around. I DO NOT recommend this place and would never stay there again. If I had resesrched these reviews earlier I would have asked for the refund and lose 30% of my money which would have been $270. The website is very misleading.

This accomodation we highly recomended because of an atmosphere which is created by the beautiful vineyard, of course we appreciated comfort and friendly service. What's more, rooms are new and stylish. The pre-prepared breakfast was very nice.

I would not stay here again. It is incredibly overpriced. The room was not clean, it had thick dust over the bed head and plants and the tray in the kitchen holding all the cutlery, glassware etc was filthy. The shower was either scorching hot or freezing cold with no option in between, making it a very unpleasant experience. The breakfast they provide is below average. This is not 5 star, it is more like 3 star and I was very disappointed as this was meant to be an indulgent weekend and we could have paid the same price and stayed at the Crown Plaza and had a much better experience.

I think this hotel's rating has suffered because it is over-sold on the website (very colourful language!) and a few people are angry about not getting refunds when their concert was cancelled. The hotel overuses the 5 star guesthouse rating - it's probably closer to a 3 to 4 star hotel. The room we had was quite nice other than some poorly chosen brown furniture that cheapened the look of the room. The bed was very comfy. The grounds were pleasant and quiet, with a view over the grapevines and as for people's petty comments about leaves in the pool - it's under a whole lot of gum trees, it happens!! There is a nice communal area with fireplace but it only really suited one couple's use at a time. As for the free mini bar and wine and canapes - you only get this if it states so on your booking. Donna was quite friendly and obviously cared about us enjoying our stay but reception hours are limited. Hotel was full on the night we stayed here. Probably would have been annoyed too if I paid the inflated prices paid by some reviewers but for what we paid it was a pleasant enough stay. In summary, don't be afraid to stay here, but also don't base your expectations on the descriptions in the website.

Run down. Not a soul there when we checked in or out. $50 minimum cab fare to Pokolbin restaurants And out of date food left for us for breakfast. Stay somewhere else, or stay home. This place seems to only survive on the mystery bookings from wotif - and staying here has affected my perception of those who recommend patrick plains estate on wotif.

Room Tip: Keep driving to anywhere else in the hunter. Your money will be better spent for sure.

Am quite shocked to read the below reviews. Patrick Plains Estate is a luxe boutique motel surrounded by a huge variety of gorgeous boutique vineyards (with free tastings)! And some lovely restaurants.

The rooms are decadently furnished and overlook secluded, private vineyards. All we could hear were the sounds of the birds and crickets - such a beautiful alternative to a hotel room!

The owner makes you feel extremely welcome and the reception area has an abundance of very new DVDs for you to help yourself to throughout your stay.

There is a beautiful pool and BBQ area too!

I forgot to fill out the green form, (to be dropped to reception before 4pm) which would have given us canapés and Patrick Plains wine served in our room at 430pm!

You should definitely give Patrick Plains a go, the people who have given this place a bad wrap must have very bazaar standards! Our stay was perfect in every way!

Would love to go back again and rent the entire place out with a group of friends.

Love. Love. Loved it!!!
