“40th Weekend with Friends”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

Just celebrated my 40th with friends and Tonic was fantastic. Modern rooms with views across the lake, the common lounge area with its huge open fire and commercial kitchen is perfect for a quiet glass of Shiraz in front of the fire or a breakfast cook up for 20. Ian the owner spoils you with a never ending supply of fire wood, great wine and fresh breakfasts. I would recommend Tonic to anyone from couple getaways to family breaks with wineries, chocolate shops and great dining just minutes up the road. Will definitely be back. Cheers chris

Forget the big hotels with sprawling golf courses and definately forget the pre-fab cottages hastily erected in someones back yard. Tonic is all about privacy with it's unique style and treatment of guests is a breath of fresh air! After researching long and hard for the ideal place in the vineyards to celebrate my partners birthday I selected Tonic. We could not have been happier! Fabulous modern yet comfy accommodation with fantastic views and so so private from check in to check out. Great breakfast with quality provisions and all of the small details that make such a difference thought of by the owners. Thank you for a really memorable stay.

We went to the Tonic on a romatic getaway to the Hunter Valley on Nov 2010, found it here on TRipAdvisor and was not dissapointed at all. It's a great concept where you feel less in a hotel, but more like in a priviledged place with your own independence. Lovely decor, great provisions, food, souvenirs and its all so much fun. There was noone else staying there so we had everything to oursleves, the pool, clubhouse, views. Absolutely wonderful, words don't do enough to describe it. It's not luxury but its alsolutely delightful and comfortable.

Note however that when we went it was put up on sale thus I'm not sure if it got sold since, and if its still as good.

First timers to the Hunter Valley. And what an amazing time we had all thanks to the wonderful Ian and Janelle. We loved it so much that we already have our next stay planned this coming month. And wouldnt stay anywhere else. We made memories and friends to last a lifetime (the wonderful hosts Ian and Janelle).
Add breathtaking views, great location, total privacy and you have the perfect getaway.

Room Tip: Rooms have a great sunset view.

We had a fantastic stay at Tonic Hotel. Stunning views from the rooms! Ian and Janelle were such great hosts. Definitely the best hospitality I have experienced at any hotel. They really did go out of their way to make us feel comfortable and at home.
The hotel is located close to some great restaurants and is not as "commercial" or "generic" as staying at places such as the Crowne. Definitely will be back again. Such a fabulous place to escape and relax!

The best hospitality I have experienced from any hotel! No annoying waiting in a line to check in or check out ... just a simple code to get in and out of your room! We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment which was amazing! Huge rooms both with en-suites... with an ultra modern design and gorgeous huge balcony to laze about on or eat a meal on watching the sun set.

The lounge room and fireplace with super comfy couch and foxtell was also a win - not to mention the well equipped kitchen where you will find breakfast supplies replenished daily with different treats each day such as banana bread, croissants, yoghurt, muesli and so on!

Ian was extremely helpful and wonderful in making our stay memorable. I definitely plan on returning... But remember slippers or socks as the floor can be freezing haha
100 % recommend
Thanks again Ian

You experience the hospitality and friendliness of Tonic before you even arrive, with new owners Ian and Janelle happy to share their knowledge of the area and its produce. Hints and tips for great places to eat and wineries to visit.

My three girlfriends and I were off to the Hunter for the Lovedale Long Lunch so we stayed in the Lodge at Tonic - an expansive two bedroom, two bathroom lodge complete with its own gas fireplace, fully stocked kitchen and divine views out over the lake.

We awoke on the first morning after a wonderously restful sleep to see the resident Black Swans gracefully moving about the lake, searching for their breakfast - ours was tucked away nicely in the fridge and included a fantastic selection of croissants, bread, farm fresh eggs, truss tomatoes, bacon, jams, museli, orange juice - need I go on? The next day, it was even better!

The lodge was modern, clean and spacious, and all products were first class. The common areas of the property are also well appointed, with a delightfully stocked kitchen, full of cheese, home made dips and meals for those of us not wanting to venture out.

Ian and Janelle were wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble. I can't wait to come back to Tonic.

Room Tip: Spoil yourself and get the lodge!
