Being a first time to the region with my girlfriend I wanted to make sure we picked the perfect place and boy did we find it. We booked the spa suite and was charming down to every last detail. Bed was almost too comfortable, decor was great and the breakfast basket delivered at 8am sharp was amazing! We were there Wed-Fri so we had the entire place to ourselves (spa room is away from winery) and with a fireplace/dining room/fridge and everything else you need in a communal room it was almost too perfect! The staff were as lovely and helpful as they were British. Try their Rose, pat the dog, stay an extra night and soak in the area and the cottage. Couldnt have picked a better place to stay if I tried. Great, now I want to go back. Love you Carriages!

Room Tip: Spa Room is well worth the extra $$$ as you get a massive communal room with everything you need. If...

Thanks again for staying with us at Carriages, and for your kind review.
It makes us happy to know that you enjoyed all the variety that the property has to offer, and could properly unwind whilst staying here.
We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
(The Spa Suites are wonderful in winter... especially with the big logfire in the sitting room next door).
Kind regards,
Rebecca

Rained throughout our stay however the wonderful location and experience more than made up for this. Our host recommended some great locations to visit, wine and dine, we were not disappointed. The location is fabulous and only a short distance to the wineries. The Verandah Room was very confortable and just the right size for a couple. Highly enjoyable stay combined with the Day on the Green concert @ Bimbadgen. Would highly recommend The Carriages and look forward to staying there again.

Arriving in driving rain to the gateway of the vineyard, the rain droplets hung from the leaves and fruit of the rows of vines, the mood was of romance. At the easily found reception we were warmly greeted by our host who directed us to the beautiful verandah style guest house. Reminisant of a quality, character filled European country home, the mood was hightened. The beautiful furniture and wooden decking of the verandah led us to our room. The polished timber floors, soft furnishings and "feel" made us reassured that this was going to be a wonderful memorable time together.
Although the rain persisted it encouraged us to enjoy a lazy day, enoying the gentle pitter patter of rain as the room provided to our needs both practical and in ambience.

Highly recommended

We were here for Chirstmas and the owners were friendly, helpful, cheerful, and took time out of their own celebration to make sure our stay was lovely. Their wine is quiet good as well, so buy a bottle when you arrive and safe it for later. The breakfast baskets were big and we almost always had some left over to pack in our afternoon picnic basket. Their dog is hysterical and the homey feel to the porch and rooms was just what we wanted. The cops in Hunter Valley don't fool around concerning drivers and rules (as well they shouldn't). SO as not to risk a ticket we were able to amble down the lane from our room to four wonderful vineyards! They helped us with reservations for Christmas dinner and really respected our privacy while still accomodating us in every way. I was a little surprised that their weren't any decorations for the holidays in the rooms, but at the same time that might just be my own nostalgia talking. We coulnd't have asked for a more perfect holiday stay at a lovely vineyard run by a wonderful family. Thanks for having us!

Room Tip: We stayed on the lower level, not sure what the upstairs rooms are like. Also, you don't need a...

We've shared your kind words with the team, thank you. We're pleased you were able to relax and enjoy the Carriages property and surrounding wineries over Christmas.

In 2013, we hope to make Carriages better than ever. Since New Year we've introduced a mini-bar service in each room, and have resurfaced the guest tennis court - its looking fresh! We are just days away from picking the ripe Chardonnay grapes in the vineyard for our 2013 harvest, so its a vibrant time on the estate indeed...

Thanks again for taking the time to review Carriages.

My partner and I had an amazing weekend away at The Carriages in August/September, the host Rebecca was fantastic and the room was brilliant. Ideally located in the heart of the Hunter Wine Region, we walked to restaurants and wineries, had our fill then retired back to the comfort of our country style room where we finished off our complimentary cheese platter and cracked open another bottle in front of the fire place. Upon waking up to the sounds of the birds our breakfast was waiting for us in a basket at the front door, the selection of muffins, cereals, croissants, bread, juice, etc hit the spot and set us up for another day of eating and tasting the local wines and produce. This was our third visit to the Hunter Valley and by far the best, we will stay at The Carriages again in the hopefully not too distant future!

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a fire place in the Winter!

Thanks for your kind words, its always a pleasure to hear guests enjoy their time at CARRIAGES. We'd love to welcome you back - its wonderful here as we head towards Summer - the vineyard is transforming into a bright green display of new growth, the salt-water pool is sparkling, the gardens are blooming, and the Rose is on ice.. hope to see you soon!

With a group of 4 couples the Carriages was a logical choice - very central location in the Hunter Valley and great facilities for socialising.

We booked the two rooms in the 'Gate House' and 2 rooms in the 'main house'. The former has two spacious guest rooms (with spas) and a roomy kitchen/lounge in between. The latter consists of 8 rooms.

Booking was relatively easy - was going to do online, but to make sure our group was all confirmed we called and booked over the phone.

The rooms were great - spacious and comfy (and the bed was just right). We did, however, find the hot water wasn't very hot - particularly if our friends in the other room in the gate house had already had a spa or shower. I did mention this on check out, and the owner was apologetic - and texted me later to apologise again.

The central lounge and kitchen was ideal for our group. The fire was fantastic!

The breakfast basket was well received by all - breakfast in the sun on the balcony was a hit.

I recommend anyone staying at the Carriages take the short stroll down the road to Roberts for dinner. I also recommend you splash out on a limo tour of the wineries - we used Hunter Valley Limos and had a great time. Much better than drink driving yourself, and you'll get much better personalised attention.

Overall I'd definately stay here again, and I'm sure our friends would make similar recommendations.

My partner and I recently stayed for 2 nights and we were absolutely thrilled.
We stayed in the loft, (I think it was the biggest room) and my partner had a great time playing with the open fire.
The hosts were very courteous and available without being overbearing.
Charmingly furnished.
