“Farm to Table personified”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

A bit pricey; but if we were eating all of the locally produced or estate grown items that were claimed on the menu, we could some what understand. Enjoyed our evening and learning about the owners philosophy about the vineyard. Even visited the pigs, who dine on the scraps, rather than throwing it in the garbage. Nice.

“Relaxing view - great food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

This was our first stop on the way to our short Hunter Valley break. Harvest restaurant is in the Hope Estate winery. We wern't quite sure what to expect but thought we would give it a try. Neither of us was very hungry, but we decided on tomato and basil soup with bread to accompany. The soup was amazing and over a glass of white wine, we stayed longer that we expected due to the amazing view. The view seems endless and in the distance you could see kangaroos happily grazing, which would also be great for international visitors. We walked out so relaxed, and ready to really enjoy our stay in the Hunter.

“Fabulous venue, excellent service, good food, reasonable value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

The last time we had been to this building was many years ago when it was then called 'Rothbury Estate' and we are so glad that we made a return - even it was because it seemed that it was one of the few fine dining restaurants open for lunch early in the week in the Hunter Valley.

The entrance through a back door and then over a dark cask hall is a bit foreboding but on entering the restaurant proper, we knew we were about to experience something special. The view over our starch white linen table cloth to the lawn with half a dozen lounging kangaroos with vineyards and a pond in the middle distance and the mountains in the background really sets the scene for a memorable lunch.

I had garlic prawns with avocado and asparagus salad followed by a pork belly main course whereas my vegetarian companion had a goat cheese tart entree followed by a ravioli main. There was not a skerrick of food left on any of our plates providing adequate testimony not only to our hunger after the two-hour drive from Sydney but also our wholehearted enjoyment of high quality, well prepared and presented food.

The service and recommendations from our gracious and friendly waitress provided the final validation of our decision to dine at Harvest and put it on our 'must go again' list.
