I went there for a wine trip in the Hunter Valley. The resort is well located. The vineyards surround the resort. The rooms are clean and nice. The outdoor pool has a small jacuzzi also.

Maybe we had our hopes up too high when we found out that we could get a room at the "Hunter Resort" in the Hunter Valley. My fiance and I were both hoping for a modern resort when we booked our trip to the Hunter Valley. Unfortunately, the Hunter Resort seems to be a throwback to another time. The resort is laid out in connected cabins, motel-style. The exterior isn't very inviting for a "resort". If it had been called, "Hunter Motel" then it would have lived up to our expectations.

The rooms themselves are old-fashioned, which is fine. There's a lot of exposed wood, with wood rafters and a large wooden wardrobe when you walk in. However, our room had large cobwebs in the corners by the AC unit and the bathroom constantly smelled like a gym locker room.

Aside from the room, we did the wine theater, which came with the price of the room. That was very good, and the tasting/wine lesson afterward was fantastic. My recommendation would be to stay somewhere else, but to go to the Hunter Winery for a tasting.

While at one time this place was probably unique and fun, today it is just tired and rundown. NO potable water in rooms, 1 very small bottle of water provided in room, front desk said they were waiting for resupply which never arrived. Closet door fell off when I tried to open it. Most light fixtures in the room had burned out lamps in them. These are just examples of overall condition of property. It was grossly overpriced for quality of accommodations

What ever you do, PLEASE, do not stay here!! I stayed over new years with my partner & what a disaster. Over a couple of weeks choosing where to stay i phoned the Resort on a few occasions on what they would be doing for new years. They said that their bar would be very busy and going on all night. WHAT A LIE! It was dead and closed at 10pm. We were then stuck in the middle of no where on NYE as the resort is so far out of town and down a road that will surely put your car out of alignment. The room wasn't very clean, fridge was broken and food was average. You can get alot better for your money in the Hunter Valley.

P.S Don't go down Broke Rd pass Harrigans, your call will suffer damage & there is not much down their anyway.

Our experience on the second night was unbelievable, Casuarina managed to deliver an experience that left me feeling exhausted and disgusted.

We were woken at midnight to the sound of someone urinating, farting and spitting right next to us. It turned out that the restaurant Manager’s accommodation is attached to one of the rooms in the Manor with evidently very thin walls. It was quite disgusting to have to listen to these bodily functions. He then had the loudest shower (old pipes I presume) ever heard and then proceeded to have a heated discussion with his wife/ girlfriend. We could even hear what they were saying to each other. Two calls later to the night manager Kai resulted in a call to the restaurant Manager. We heard the sound of his mobile, we heard him answer and we heard his partner giggle when he explained we had complained. By this time it was around 1am. All was quiet for a short time and then the Manager started to snore. Not the soft snoring that is almost bearable but really loud nasal snoring that seems to vibrate everything in the viscinity. No amount of pillows over the head could drown out the constant sound – again quite disgusting to be kept awake by someone snoring that isn’t your own husband
A further call to Kai ensured that the Casuarina management knew what we were enduring. At around 3am the snoring stopped and we were treated to 3 hours of ‘five star’ sleep until our children (two and four) woke us at 6am.

The next morning we had no contact from the Casuarina management – they appeared to have no concern that we had been kept awake for most of the night.

Also, if that wasn't enough the Manor smelled and was very dark, the toilet in one bathroom was blocked, the shower door was broken, there was mould in a cup and the fruit bowl had a dead spider in it

My partner and I stayed at the Hunter Resort, that he booked as a surprise, for our anniversary. After reading a few mixed reviews, I was a little worrried about what to expect. Apon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to be staying in a spacious, clean and modern room. The bed was king size and very comfortable, Im guessing it was fairly new. The water was not an issue and you wouldnt know that they do not get town water, if you are worried, then dont drink it and drink the bottled water provided complimentary in the room. We had a wonderful stay, and I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for accommodation in the Hunter.
