“Oily, greasy and overpriced”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2011

This was one of the most disappointing meals we have had in a while. We had the soft shell crab and antipasti -- both dishes were very oily and salty and sat heavily in our stomachs for the rest of the day. Despite the poor quality, the prices were relatively high and the service was stilted. All in all, one of the lowlights of our weekend in Hunter Valley.

“Krusty's Review - AVOID!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2011

Walked past here on Jan 1st 2011. Decore looked great, menu read well. Decided not to book for dinner but would definately give it a go. Returned that evening and sat inside, paroused the menu and settled on a bottle of Mumm champagne (at $160.00) Although overpriced it was the new year and we had a birthday and a wedding anniversary to celebrate. Decided on several dishes also. Our party was 2 parents, a 17 years old, a well behaved 5 years old and a sleeping 5 week old infant. All were quiet, had dressed nicely for the occassion and thankfull to be out of the 37 degree heat outside. There were only 2 other tables with patrons. Nice and relaxed atmosphere, shouldn't take to long to order and be out. The young waitress approaached and to our surpise asked if we were wanting food or drinks? Err both we replied. She then informed us that her manager had directed her to ask us to leave as children were not allowed inside the restaurant. She then mentioned that we were welcome to dine outside on the tables at front ( yes in the 37 degree full sun heat). Dissappointed, appalled and slightly bemused we quietly left. Our order would have amounted to around $300.00 and in terms of time probably taken about 1 hour. The Thai Japanese restaurant next door was near packed to capacity and did not discriminate against children.Given that this is a venue catering to a transient, holidaying community in a rural tourist area (i.e The Hunter Valley!) It would appear that management should seriously reflect on the needs of their potential customers. If they wish to run a restaurant with a nightclub sensability then they should work in one. Somewhere in Oxford St maybe and leave the work of managing a restaurant to people that know what they're doing! Discrimination can come in all shapes and forms, some of which are not always instantly overt; here at Goldfish it is against children.

Krusty says "REWARD THE GOOD, PUNISH THE BAD." Verdict: Avoid!

“WOW great food great drinks great times!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2010

I visited Goldfish last week as I was suggested to visit by the concierge where we were staying and who would think somthing like this could be found in the middle of the vines. we called in during the day and had some fantastic cocktails then came back that night for dinner - to be honest it was one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. Fantastic atmosphere , sexy fit out and the staff were really really profesional. Try the Betal leafs !! and the Wagu steak MMMM MMMM.

“Dim lighting, good music, tasty food and fun atmosphere...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2010 via mobile

Ideal location in wine country with a great setting. Hip and intimate setting to enjoy dinner and drinks. Good music playing that sets a solid vibe for conversation over cocktails with a darker ambiance to spend an evening! The entrees and apps were great too!
