This was our first trip to the Hunter and I will definitely be back again. We stayed at The Mercure across the road which was really handy as we could have a few extra drinks without worrying about driving home. We went into Goldfish last night for some cocktails and dinner, what a surprise, this place looks like it could be in any city location in Australia, beautifully lit with candles everywhere and palm trees.
We sat at the bar and a lively Scottish bartender served us a couple of Rascal Mules, in pewter cups which were out of this world. He was so entertaining that we decide to eat at the bar, I ordered the whole barramundi which I must say was the best fish dish I have had in my life, the flavours were amazing, I know it's a big statement, but I just can't remember a time eating fish at a restaurant and saying, far out this is really good. My husband had the ribs which he devoured, one thing was cool is that they give you these little fresh towellettes like in Thailand to wipe your sticky fingers. I just can't believe there is a place like this so far away from the city. Can't wait to come back with a group of friends and make a big night of it.
