We recently visited sisters rock for a lunch celebration. As always the scenery is beautiful and the dining room has a lovely ambiance. I must start by saying that the food was lovely. The bread was lovely and light, and the pork belly and accompaniments were perfectly matched, rich and filling. Unfortunately our whole experience was tainted by extremely poor service. The waitress was not at all friendly. Menus were slapped in front of us with no explanation or greeting. Within a minute she was standing waiting for us to choose drinks. Then as soon as she bought drinks back she stood impatiently waiting for our food order. And this was the last we saw of her until our food arrived, even though we sat at length with empty glasses. When she put our meals down we asked for a wine list and once again she stood waiting with an air of impatience for us to quickly choose a bottle of wine. She brought our wine to the table with a cooler, sat the wine next to me and walked away. No presentation of the bottle, no tasting, and no pouring. Lucky it was what we ordered.
We ate our meals and then proceeded to sit with our empty plates in front of us for the best part of an hour before someone (not our waitress) offered to clear them for us. We had organised a cake as a surprise for our guest of honour, but the wait staff had no idea so the surprise was all but spoilt when we had to get up and whisper this to the waitress when she was offering dessert. After having our cake we were not offered anything else; no tea/coffee, no drinks, no alternative desserts for the children who werent eating the adults cake. We spent 3 hours in the restaurant and had two drinks the entire time. Which I can assure you was not the plan. While the inside of the restaurant was full, the outside was empty (too cold), so with the 3 floor staff members there should have been more attentive service.
I am really dissapointed to have to rate this place as low because the meals were so lovely, but I really think the service is really letting the establishment down.
