“Convenient, clean and spot on service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

I visited the Crowne plaza for a work dinner and decided to stay overnight with my 3 month old baby.

From the minute I arrived at reception I received excellent customer service. The check in clerk was training with the manager and she did a great job. A porta cot was available for my baby and was delivered to the room.

The room contained a surprise kitchen area, a bathroom with a window/blind through to the bedroom which was ideal for keeping an eye on the baby.

The view was partially of the harbour and the sun was beaming in to the point where I had to close the curtains.

The food at my work dinner was nice, again the service was excellent.

I recommend this hotel when traveling with little children or for a work meeting from Sydney.

The position of the Crowne couldn't be better, over looking the working harbour yet close to lots of cafes, restaurants and easy walks along the foreshore. Our room on the first floor was large, comfortable and quiet. there are so many to eat near by we only ate at the hotel once, that was when we were so late for lunch everybody had stopped serving, The Sea Salt Restaurant served us from their casual dining menu and even did something special to cope with my food intolerance it was a lovely meal in a great situation.
Yes we would go back. Only one problem the cost of the valet parking, but there is free over night parking on the street just across the road

I like to staf at the Crowne Plaza in Newcastle because I'm never disappointed. Once again, I had a very comfortable stay. The rooms are very nice...spacious, clean, comfortable and well appointed. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet provides all that is needed. The location is great!

My wife & I enjoyed a relaxing weekend staying on the harbour foreshore, at the Crowne.
The location is great, & harbour views from our room were nice (no balconies tho)
Lovely walk up to the lighthouse & around nearby beaches, with dolphins & seals spotted.
Lots of choice for shops & dining, with Hunter St & Darby St (for restaurants) nearby.
Found a fabulous Vietnamese restaurant , which is worth a visit.
It's called the Vietking, 116 Darby St.
Our hotel room was clean & tidy, with small lounge area leading onto bedroom.
Minor problem with our aircon, which was immediately sorted by friendly on site maintenance man.
On the down side, there are charges for internet access, no bathrobes, and a rich $28 a day parking charge.

We stayed on a weeknight in order to see a show at the nearby Civic Theatre. All staff were friendly. The room was clean and quiet with a lovely big spa bath.

We had dinner at the hotel restaurant as a majority of the local restaurants were being renovated or closed for the night. We had lovely service at the restaurant though I feel it was a little pricy for the meal. Never mind it was very convenient and tasty.

I would go back to Crown Plaza again.

I was in Newcastle for several days of meetings and chose to stay at the Crowne Plaza. I am glad I chose the hotel -- it is perfectly located and the staff were friendly and responsive to guest needs. I had a room rate that included breakfast and internet, which was a great value as compared to a room rate where one purchased these separately. I booked a Superior Room, which was wonderfully comfortable, and overall was totally satisfied with my stay. If I return to Newcastle, this would be the only hotel I would consider.

Well located on the harbour, easy to find, with lots of eating options and shops close by. I was travelling with a colleague and we both had clean, generous sized rooms with a separate lounge area. There was also a small kitchenette with the normal tea/coffee facilities and a sink, however there were no additional facilties such as cutlery, crockery or microwave etc. My colleague was caught out by this, buying a reheatable meal from a nearby eatery, assuming the kitchenette was equipped.

The mattress on the bed was comfortable but there was no top sheet - only a duvet - and I struggled to find a comfortable temperature to sleep. The breakfast buffet was quite good, albeit expensive, with eggs cooked to order and all the usual options. I've noticed a move towards "make your own juice" in a number of hotels lately - great idea, but the machines are so noisy - it really detracted from an otherwise relaxing setting.

All of the staff we encountered were friendly and efficient, everything was clean and relatively modern, and all up, this was a good choice for an overnight business trip to Newcastle and I would stay again.
