Dropping through Newcastle and we were staying at the executive inn and after reading the reviews on Hobarts thought we had to try it ourselves. Meals and service were impeccable, we went early as we had the kids with us and this is not a place where I would normally go with kids but they are traveling with us so what the heck. Staff were most accomadating of the children even though I know they would rarely have to put up with 2 kids under 2 years old in the restaurant. If you have something special to celebrate or like us just enjoy fine food and don't mind paying for it then this is the place for you. Wife had a quail salad for entree and said it was beautiful, I had the rock oysters with fennel and apple special which was very nice. For mains I tried the duck which was well presented and tasted delish and wife had a whole lobster with sides (coildve fed both of us) unfortunately didn't stay for dessert although we would have loved to as the kids were over it and the restaraunt was getting busy so rather than ruin others evenings we thought it best to leave. Overall a great dinner but go on your own without the kids (staff were great with them but we still felt uncomfortable in such lovely surrounds with children) as it would be a lovely place for a romantic dinner.
