“A little disappointed...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2010

I am at odds with most of the reviewers but it depends on what type of place and weekend you are after I guess.

Paying $160 for the night I expected a little more of the "suite" which we was advertised - in reality it was a smaller than average room which was very outdated in terms of decor. Even the iron had seen better days as it was so caked that we couldn't use it.

There is a limited feel of privacy as you could hear all noises from the bedrooms on either side. Also Monica tried to organise breakfast so that all the guests could eat together. I understand this makes it a bit easier for cooking but I didn't really want to get up for an 8:30 breakfast on a Sunday on a weekend away... That said - we compromised with a 9:00 start and the other guests were lovely.

The cheese and champagne on arrival and the port and chocolates before bed, as advertised on the web and in the brochure in the room, were nowhere to be seen which was a disappointment.

If you stay here you must like dogs - we do so that wasn't a problem and the dogs were so well trained that they wouldn't come into the rooms or kitchen. Very cute.

On arrival, we were greeted by Monika and her dog honey, and were led into a very 'english" home, lots of knick-naks & photos. I was a bit worried we would be staying in her house, (which I don't enjoy) but the owner had her own suite.
The room was small and adequate BUT the grounds, pool, garden and breakfast move this B&B into another level as does the gracious hostess Monika. I had intentions of spending lots of free time in Polkolbin area but found myself reading by the pool and relaxing. The garden nooks at night were beautiful.
If you don't like dogs - this is not the place for you as Honey is everywhere except the kitchen, dining and guest rooms.
Easy drive to wine areas.

We went to the Pindari House at the end of summer and we loved it from the time we arrived. A very personal greeting from the host - Monika with a nice chat and a glass of champagne. We went there to switch off for the weekend and that's exactly what Monika provided for us. We were surprised by the most friendly and welcoming atmosphere, it was like seeing old friends after a very long time.
The room we stayed in had everything you would want, plus a glass of port and home made chocolate before bed time.
Monika did a great job with breakfast also, and she went the extra mile to accommodate the preferences of each guest and it was delicious.
The location is also brilliant, within 10 minutes by car to the shops and a great pub near by, but on the other hand the views from the gardens feels like you are million miles away from everything, really peaceful place.
And the outdoor entertaining area with the pool and pool bar was also great, in fact we were so comfy there we cancelled our wine trip.

We will be coming back and this time we are going to bring our puppy dog, as the second lady of the house - Honey the dog is another wonderful creature.

If you are looking for country retreat, not a CBD hotel room, this is definitely the place to go!

We went on the basis of the other reviews and were sadly dissappointed as our experience was completely at odds with theirs. Similarly the website is far more promising than the reality.
Once there decor is late 70s or at best early 80s and rather delapidated.
Again I have to disagree with the other reviewers; the food we had was awful and I've not been able to face eggs Benedict since. Its all well-meaning but misfires on almost every count I'm afraid.

Pindari House is the best bed & breakfast we've ever stayed in - in terms of creature comforts, quality and presentation of food, personal attention, good company and relaxation. We stayed for 3 nights and after dinner on the first night decided to eat in for the remaining two nights. The excellent food was complemented by its five star dining room setting.

We paid $190 per night for bed & breakfast and $60 each for dinner (Australian dollars) - excellent value.

Pindari House bed and Breakfast is situated about 10 kilometres north of Maitland in The Hunter Valley. Monica ,your hostess is as charming a lady you could ever wish to meet. The evening meal she presented us with was wonderful as was the stunning breakfast the next morning, and the champagne and great Hunter Valley Wines wereamazing. She and Brian, her house mate, treat you as old and good friends and Honey, the dog, is absolutely adorable.

The suites are very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Pindari House is built on the top of a hill with lovely gardens, a pool and bar. The views are magnificent, My partner and I stayed on our way up to Queensland and were so impressed we stayed again on our way back to Sydney. This is a perfect place for a romantic weekend for either straight or gay couples, for Honey-Mooners or people just wanting a "Weekend in The Country" The surrounding area is fascinating for people interested in discovering a bit of Australian History as well as the obvious Wine-Tasting.

Maitland is very picturesque and has some wonderful Restaurants and shops and Morpeth is just plain quaint with galleries and antique shops and the early history pervading the atmosphere. Can't recommend Pindari House enough.

We left Pindari House feeling like we had a truly gratifying experience of the Hunter Valley. What made our stay so great was the personal warmth, friendliness and overall attention to our needs and expectations.

Pindari House is a bed and breakfast in 10 acres of privately owned hunter valley countryside. We partook of all its amenities during our weekend stay including their outdoor swimming pool and patio with barbeque. This place is one of few that we could find that also allowed us to take our dog.

The establishment is run by an English lady (Monika) who catered for us like we were her own. We paid $140 per night for the Medley Suite which has its own entrance. The food was outstanding, breakfast was served at the exact time we asked for it. We had dinner there on the first night and were so surprised at the quality of what was served. Dinner was served by the poolside and was very romantic. Monika joined us for a glass (or more) of wine after dinner and was such great company (she is a very travelled lady).

We didn't need the use of the horse stables, or helicopter pad, but were pleased with the garage parking and the offers to drop us off at local attractions.
See the Pindari House website at ------, its just as worthy of a visit.
