Camped here in our tent in January. Tent campers are sent down the back of the caravan near a chain wire fence that faces a road (no trees for privacy from road). The noise at night is unbearable with freight trucks tearing down the back street behind the campground, nearby security and other dogs howling all night every night, and at 5 or 6am the trucks in the industrial yard accross the road start up with their engines and reverse beeping sounds. I bought earplugs and slept quite well the other nights...til one of my earplugs fell out and I lost it!
Despite the ad saying shady spots, there were none that I could see. Trees were scarce and did not provide enough shade to ease the intense heat of Dubbo. The camp kitchen nearby was handy with free gas BBQ, fridge/freezer, tables and a washing up sink. Laundry and clotheslines are ample for number of visitors here. 2 bathoom blocks, we could always get a shower/toilet when needed. Playground is very basic with a swing, slippery dip and mini golf (BYO clubs and balls). Pool is very small (10 people is too many for it!!) and located far from the campground at the front of the complex. By the time you walk back to your campsite you're hot again! The pool is next to the Newell Highway so trucks come along there constantly too, not relaxing at all. Saying all this, my kids loved the place!
Cabins looked nice but many appeared quite old. The on site vans you can hire look like they're from the 60's maybe 70's, I wouldn't like to see/smell what they are like inside!
They undercharged me at the entrance, $20 per night for a powered site instead of $40 ($25 for site + $5 for my 3 kids) so I can't complain about the price. Especially compared to sites at competing premises which charge way more than this for a basic campsite.
In summary, I would not recommend camping here at all. I would suggest you try the more expensive cabins (which are still cheaper than competitors) as they looked quite nice from what I could see. Check with other campgrounds to ensure there is shade at them if you need it (handy if it's 40 degrees!).
