“Diasappointing, choose another Armidale motel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

Stayed here for two nights to attend a weekend conference with my husband. Receptionist was very good, but things went downhill from there. The room was tiny, it appears to have been a single room in which a double bed was placed (only one bed wall light, bed had to be moved away from wall to access wall power point etc).
Room appeared quite clean at first, until the next morning. When I took the shampoo sachet out of the decorative shell container, I found used dental floss in there and a long dark hair. That night I saw two cockroaches scurrying across the floor.
Decor dated. Room poorly designed, all internal doors opened the wrong way. Built-in furniture appeared to have been added as an afterthought, as only one of us could view TV from bed, blocked by wardrobe. Only one Foxtel channel available, despite guest book listing more. No iron, had to ask for one at reception.
Fortunately we were only in the room to sleep both nights, it would have been claustrophobic to stay there during the day.
The motel was advertised with a restaurant, when we dressed up to access the restaurant on Saturday night for a romantic dinner, we found it closed. The receptionist said it wasn't busy enough to open, yet both nights of our stay, the No Vacancy sign was up & the carpark was full.
Parking was difficult, while there appeared to be a carpark for each room, both evenings when we arrived back at 6pm we needed to park on a paved BBQ area about 50 metres from our room, as did other guests. We are regular visitors to Armidale & have stayed in at least five different motels, we rate this the worst by far.

This hotel is in a good central location in Armidale. The bathroom was, however dirty. The room itself was basic which is fine for an overnight stay, but not so good when there is obvious dirt. Also, the TV did not work.

Was booked into the delux twin share for a two night business trip. Queen sized bed & single bed, desk, armchair, dressing area outside of bathroom, free wireless internet. Good value for a short stay. Motel very full due to bulk booking of firemen & women in Armidale for training. Car par was full to overflowing and cars started leaving at 4.30am each morning. Despite this the rooms are reasonably quiet. Restaurant on limited hours they suggested we try PJ Thai; great choice!

Room Tip: Ask for a deluxe room if on a longer stay.

Check in was friendly. Room 9 was large for 2 adults. Had 2 singles and a queen bed. Strong shower. Sheets fresh and white. On the second floor. Air cond. quiet. Walked to white bull for fabulous food and wine. Would recommend Abbotsleigh. We didn't book, but it looked pretty full by 6pm and doubt we would have got a room had we checked in any later than we did, which was 1pm.

We were tired, late afternoon, no reservation, but had researched a few different places in Armidale. This one had been my first choice. They only had a mid priced room available. OK, we were only staying for one night.
Terrible room. The drapes did not close properly, there was a huge gap between the door & the floor, suspicious looking black edges to the tile in the disgusting bathroom, very stained carpet on the floor,& the bed felt like a hammock.
To top it all off, we ate at their suggestion at P.J Thai. Terrible also!

I was on a 1 night business stopover and booked a budget room at $89. It was on the small side and I would not want to spend more than 1 or 2 nights, but it was exactly what I wanted and good value. I’m sure the other more expensive rooms are larger and more comfortable.
The only real complaint is that the desk which can not be moved is positioned so that you back is to the TV so you can not work and watch theTV.
Good home style restaurant at reasonable prices, as well as having several takeawys within walking distance. Also close to centre of city.

Just stayed at this place for 3 nights. Found staff to be helpful and friendly. My employee and myself had a Budget room each. Rooms were small, but very well cleaned and fine for the price. I will stay again next time in Armidale.

Room Tip: Budget rooms are small with no A/C. Maybe upgrade for a few bucks more.
