After a long day in the car Lisabeths is like an oasis in a dining desert...its so good we travelled home to Brisbane (from Canberra) on the Inland road just to dine there again.
Checked in to the motel about 5pm, had a long soak in the bath then went downstairs for dinner about 7pm, The restaurant was busy so we sat in the bar, in VERY comfortable chairs and perused the menu whilst enjoying a warm glass of mulled wine, perfect on a winters nite.
We ordered some bread recommended by the waiter who appears to do everything to do with the restaurant and bar, a true professional, welcoming, funny and warm - and he was right about the bread, an interesting mix of mustard and sweet chilli sauce that didnt read well at all but tasted great.
We didnt have entrees as having eaten here before we knew the meals were huge. I ordered the Fillet Mingnon and my husband ordered the rib on the bone.
The Fillet was tender and flavoursome - a minor quibble being the procuitto wrapped around the outside was cut too thick - other than this it was delicious - as were the veg accompaniments.
The Rib on the bone was declared excellent. We enjoyed a bottle of Wirra Wirra church block chosen from the very reasonably priced wine list, a rich and delicious red perfect with steaks. Much as we would have liked desset we just couldnt fit it in.
Restaurants like this are few and far between. They dont take themselves too seriously and they do the important things very well. Fantastic attentive service, great food and an atmosphere you really have to experience to understand - even the music was well chosen and thoughtful.
As I said, an Oasis in a dining desert!
