“Good value & well located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

As frequent travellers to Melbourne, we often break our journey in Albury. We have stayed at the Manor House a couple of times now and while the faux Tudor aesthetic is not particularly to my taste it has generally been a good experience. This second time we splashed out the extra bit of money for a spa room, which gets you a substantially larger room as well as a great bathroom. The room was nice and quiet, being in the back corner of the motel, with nice thick curtains. However, what promised to be a superior sleeping experience was let down by the bed, which was far too soft for two people. Have not tried the motel restaurant since there are a restaurant and cafe elsewhere in Albury that already have our loyalty.

Finding something nice in regional towns is often a challenge. There are usually a couple of establishment who think there are on a par with city hotels and want to charge big city hotel prices, then often a big jump to your normal suburban motels at realistic prices. The Manor House fills in this gap nicely. Nice spacious rooms, great bar with roomy leather lounges to relax in and a great restaurant.

We just needed an overnight stop with somewhere nice to eat. Our initial room was one of the dreaded 'interconnecting door' types, and after 10 mins in the room we realised we had neighbors who were excitedly and nosily greeting other friends. Michael on the front counter revised some booking allocations and we changed rooms. Rooms are a decorated in medieval style and while now getting a little dated are still quite functional. Nothing much by way of views from our first floor window.

We dined and and were treated to a most sumptuous meal. There was a special on of 3 courses for $33. I am usually a little suspicious of these deals but we were totally overwhelmed. In particular the starters of seasoned pumpkin soup and my wife's gnocchi were probably the most tasteful we have ever had. Mains and deserts measured up well very nicely as well. Some very good local wines by the glass are at ridiculously sensible prices (All under $8/glass!) topped off the night beautifully.

Staff were most friendly and seemed interested in genuine conversation. We will now be staying here on all future visits. This place 'fits like a glove' for us.

And best of all - no surcharge on the credit card!!!

I travel to Albury every couple of months for business and have stayed in quite a few places to begin with but was never quite comfortable anywhere, until I found this little gem. Great value, clean, nice sheets, kind friendly staff that remember your face, sauna and little indoor pool and yummy room service. Now I found this place I look forward to coming back after a busy day of work for a relax. This is my 5 or 6th time, they just keep me coming back....

Thanks guys, for my home away from home!

Room Tip: All rooms are great, 102 for a princess experience or if you have a family the family unit is quirky...

Situated about 3 or 4 blocks from the central part of Albury city and approximately 8 minutes walk from the railway station. The reception staff cheerfully welcomed me and were happy to assist me at various times during my stay. Spacious corridor and rooms, lovely soft carpet and a very comfortable bed. Most rooms appear to have two beds, as mine did, including a large bathroom with a very good hot shower. Most rooms I think would be similar. There is a comfortable arm chair and writing desk in the room and plenty of space to move around. The outlook from the windows mainly look out on to the carpark below. They also have a very nice restaurant and bar which I considered a bit pricey, and there are options for other meals to be brought to your room which are priced a little more reasonably. Well rated as 4 stars and worth paying just a tiny bit extra than the average 3 star motels.

This hotel was great value for money. The rooms, meals and service all rival far more expensive establishments! Sercure parking was also a plus. Will definitely recommend to friends, what a great find!

We only stayed one night but would definitely stay again to enjoy its comforts. We didnt have breakfast for only one reason - the dining room where we had a (very enjoyable) meal the night before was very cold and couldnt face the early morning chill we expected it would be the next morning. The pool looked good and was heated. We stayed in mid winter and the heating in the room was good as was everything else. The bed was a trifle hard but I consider the room good value for money. Everything was clean and as expected. The staff were good and very helpful. Parking was adequate with a locked gate at 1.00am - not sure how this might affect some people.

Albury Manor House is a great option when you're in town. Its Tudor-themed concept starts on the outside and carries on into the public rooms and bedrooms, but isn't Disney-type over-the-top. It's entertaining and quaint rather than in your face.

While age is showing through a little bit in the rooms, it's not enough to be a problem and they are spacious and comfortable. We had an incredible four-poster bed which was both an experience and perfect for a good night's sleep.

The great high-def Samsung TV made up for the rather absurd disco-light/sound heat pump of the same brand, which was not only fiddly to operate but not all that effective. Not a major complaint though.

It's a shame WiFi is not free with the room rate - something that needs to be addressed in our view.

The hotel's restaurant is an excellent, if somewhat pricey, choice in the evening if you want to eat in. Good menu, very good staff, and great food.

We would happily return again. Especially as the room rates are pretty good value, too.
