“Terrible service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2014

We booked through choice hotels..went there old lady at counter took 30 mins to get us the room and kept saying she doesnt work there and she is helping the owner...
Then when asked her if we were going to be able to check out at 11 as choice hotels told us she raised her voice and said she doeant know what that is and doesnt know what hotel group this is part of.....
She yelled at my wife in front of our 3 year old and 1 year old kids.. and was soo rude.. she said she cant afford a new car and doesnt care if we have a loyalty program with r car...
Appalled by this woman we only stayed one very very noisy night....

Stayed one night, just turned up looking for a room and got good service, room was really clean (carpets had just been steam cleaned) room not huge but for the price way bigger than you would expect

Was upstairs but I actually quite liked that, and it is cheaper

AND

No half foxtel, all the channels which mean I got to watch the afl on fox footy

Start off with the positives - the room was clean and beds comfy.

Negatives - The service - Firstly the owner lost our booking and had no recollection of pre billing our credit card for our room. The owner then stated (quoting here) "it is my perogative whether I pre bill your credit card or not " (despite the fact the staff advised that they never pre bill a credit card). To top off the terrible service I left my phone charger in the room when I booked out and despite a couple of phone calls was never found ...
If you stay - CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD as they may have pre billed and not advised you.

Unfriendly and rude owner - must be better options.

A big, brick-clad establishment not far from Hume Hwy, of its kind this is a terrific place. Although rooms are a little dated, they are large, well-appointed, spotlessly clean, and come with Foxtel and free wi-fi. It's probably 1/2 K from the CBD of Albury, but situated across the street from a beautiful park and not too far from the Hume Hwy.

Very nice, accomodating front-desk staff as well.

Didn't eat there, so can't comment on restaurant.

Room Tip: It's a two-storey place, so if climbing stairs with luggage is a problem, ask for a lower floor.

Starting with the positives, the room looked nice and the hotel is well located. But we were unimpressed with the cleanliness. The shower was scummy and at least one row of tile (bottome of shower) were brown with caked on dirt. The celing fan in the bathroom was absolutely covered in dust, which was caked on.

The single bed is mounted on wheels, and when I nudged it one morning I found garbage from previous guests under the bed. The rooms aren't well insulated from noise, which made it hard to sleep. Someone in a room near us had a cat get into their room.

The Foxtel didn't work. When we reported it on checkout, we were told by staff that "everyone" is told to reboot the box in order for it to work. We weren't. This is obviously a problem that someone is aware of, so people should be made aware of this on check in, and the directions provided in rooms should explain the need to reboot the machine.

Balconies for top floor are narrow, and have ashtrays regularly placed along them. If you're a non-smoker, you have to walk through people's smoke to get to your room.

We were pleasantly surprised by the large room size, which easily accommodated a queen size bed, single bed and round table with large armchairs. There was plenty of storage space too, the bathroom was large and clean and the complimentary toiletries were of good quality. The large, fluffy white towels were excellent. There was plenty of choice of channels on the large flatscreen TV, free wifi (albeit of limited duration), a good-sized bar fridge and plenty of crockery and cutlery. Moreover, the little freezer actually worked, which is not common in bar fridges.
There was plenty of parking, the motel was easy to find and is a good place to break the trip on the way to Melbourne.

As there were a couple of buses full of passengers expected in, and the Motel was fully booked, we were advised to have room service breakfast the following morning rather than go to the restaurant. The breakfast room service left a bit to be desired, quite expensive for very little, I ordered just toast and margarine and Vegemite as per breakfast order form and received butter instead of the margarine and Peanut Butter instead of Vegemite. A breakfast, costing $4, that I didn't order and consequently didn't eat. Room was a good size but needs some attention and updating, Bed was comfortable and bathroom clean. There were plenty of big white clean fluffy towels and the T.V reception was good.

Room Tip: This Motor Inn has upstairs and downstairs.
