Rated as a 4.5* hotel, The York certainly provides the standard of accommodation you would expect - the apartments are spacious, modern and clean. However, it falls short on the details. Reception hours are odd as are the opening times of the cafe/restaurant that provides breakfast. On a Sunday morning when the hotel was full, reception and the cafe didn't open until 9am! Also, would have expected at least a soft drink mini-bar in the room but there was barely enough tea, coffee & milk supplied to have a cuppa each in the evening and one in the morning.
Never the less, staff were friendly and accommodating when they were available and certainly bend over backwards to make guests feel welcome. Would certainly recommend for a long stay as kitchens are very well equipped and living space is comfortable. Washer and dryer in the bathroom would also come in handy for a longer stay but we weren't entrirely comfortable for one night here.
