“Great hostel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2012

Stayed here for 1 night whilst travelling with Kiwi Experience. Although Westport is a pretty quiet place its worth going to just to hang out at this hostel. The rooms are cosy and have a homely feel just like the rest of the hostel which is more like a big house. The kitchens are excellent with lots of little extras that are appreciated when you are travelling.

Finally the 2 guys that own and run the place are awesome, laid back and have a passion for what they do. What more can you ask for?

Very nice spot! More than anything, very nice hosts. These guys are fun guys to hang out with and are very helpful if you need any advice or pretty much anything. The two guys who own this place are always there and they love getting involved with the guests. Surf lessons are available from them as well as mountain biking day trips. Fun place to hangout for a few days.

Great place. Cosy and comfortable with the two owners making you very much at home.
They brought us a great breakfast (in bed) with a candle stuck in the bacon and egg sandwich for my partner as it was his birthday (a surprise for him) We were travelling on our motorbike and had secure storage. We cooked our own BBQ in a lovely seperate area. Although the black cat pinched one of our sausages. Hope he enjoyed it Pity about the builder who was there at the time . He lives in laa laa land!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband and I stayed a night here during our motorbike trip. The staff were friendly, our ensuite unit was very comfortable, clean and warm. Nice to have our own wee kitchen with tea and coffee provided. Really cool swinging chairs to relax in on the deck outside reception. Safe storage for our motorbike. What more can I say. Just a lovely place to stay.

My friends and I stayed here in March for a night on our way to Franz Joseph. The room we stayed in was a 4 bed dorm which was nice and comfy. There were a good amount of bathrooms too and the kitchen was nice. It was close to the center of town too, but be aware that nearly all restaurants are closed on a Monday night. The only downside was the smell of coal burning for the heaters in the building which smelt awful.

Really nice hostel, with really friendly staff, who were very helpful! Very spacious, with clean facilities. Would recommend staying here on route down the west coast of New Zealand to break up the journey!

Unique hostel with very spread-out layout. Bathroom facilities and kitchen area very nice. Staff cooks up yummy breakfast sandwiches that are cheap. We were very happy with our stay.
