“Not Perfect, but Solid Option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2011

After reading reviews for restaurants in Te Anau, there didn't seem to be many options, but we finally decided on this one. Our B&B helped us make a reservation. We brought our own wine, but weren't allowed to drink it there.

Service was fine, but you need to prompt. We had to say we were ready to order, ask for a dessert menu, the check, etc.

I started with a summer scallop and it was really good. My husband got a big salad which was good, but the waitress should have mentioned that he'd be getting that same salad as a side to his main (we ordered everything at once). We shared a bread plate with dips and some were better than others.

My husband got the venison and it was a little dry, not too much flavor but the polenta that accompanied it was good. I got the fish special with curry which was very good, a lot of food. We ended with the chocolate torte which was really disappointing. Coffee was good.

“Meals so good we went there twice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2011

We really enjoyed our meals as well as the service at Redcliff Restaurant which is located in a quaint cottage The fish (sea perch one night and monk fish the next) was beautifully cooked and tasted wonderful. These were by far the best meals we had in our three night stay at Te Anau and we gladly recommended the restaurant to people we met on one of our our day trips who also ended up being very happy with the choice.

“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2011

Redcliff has a lovely ambience you can feel as you enter.
The staff were very pleasant, helpful and not too intrusive.
An interesting menu and the food is beautifully presented.
Locally sourced produce is used eg hare and whitebait - and presented with loving care.
It was not inexpensive -but was worth it -we left happy!

“So good we had to go three times!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2011

This was by far the best restaurant we ate in during our trip to the South Island. We stayed in Te Anau for 3 nights and visited Redcliff on the first night and enjoyed it so much we went again on the next two nights!! Something we would never usually do. The food was delicious (though never had room to try the puds!) ... Not cheap but not overpriced either.

We loved this place so much that we dined there twice during our short stay in Te Anau. Great food, wine and friendly efficient service.
