“Great property with wonderful view and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2008

Dawn is the consumate host. Welcoming, responsive, knowledgible and helpful. More than this, she has a great sense of humour and an honest directness that is very refreshing. The house is great, with very spacious accomodation and exceptionally comfortable furninshings. The beds are very comfortable so that you don't think about anything but a lovely quiet's night sleep.

Dock Bay is perfectly suited for trips to Milford or Doubtful Sounds (which are actually Fiords). Te Anau has a number of very decent restaurtants five minutes away.

This is the real Kiwi deal: brilliant hosts, warm furnishings, unbelievable setting. Two nights was not enough. Wish I'd stayed on a few more days, as I felt at home immediately and its the perfect base to explore a striking region. Understated luxury, my favorite, at once stunning and unfussy, and...smack dab in the midst of Lake Te Anau. Recent plantings are just taking hold, but it doesn’t get much better.

Uncomplicated wood, stone, leather; the design is equally modern and rustic. Lovely fireplace, theater and open spaces. A fantastic patio enhances the already gorgeous grounds. Suites are bright, large and private. Superlative views every which way! Personal fridges and free broadband a plus. Oh, Breakfasts delicious and great showers,

Perfect golf is literally out the door at the area's finest course, though there is nothing ‘golfy’ about the Lodge or setting.

Windows everywhere absorb the ever-changing light, and I woke to a lovely sunrise over the lake and mountains.

Dawn and Mark are fun, happy and they love what they do. They've got it right and I believe Dock Bay will thrive. Fiordland is an amazing place. Will definitely return and stay here again. Highly recommended!
