Stayed in a room in the new part of the hotel. No background heat had been on in the room for some time. After 3 hr on maximum the room’s electric heater had not heated the room to a comfortable temperature. I had to request an extra heater. No electric blanket on bed. It was very cold. This was the coldest hotel room that I had during my 5 weeks in New Zealand.

I booked this directly with the hotel, This was the only hotel with a great location that was available and i feel for what we got old and outdated they were really cashing in, I had asked for a room on the ground floor upon check my request was not fulfilled when i brought it to the attention of reception they did honour that request, Our part was definatly classed as the budget area it was of to the side and not included with the main area of hotel which did seem to be a bit more udated, we were not charged budget prices, the hotel location itself was good it is in the main street a 2 minute walk up to the water front, We did the glow worm tour which was a little strenous for my grandma but well worth it, w e both enjoyed it.
We had one of our best evening meals in Te anu i cant remember the name of the restuarant it was located on the same side as the hotel on the corner heading up to the water front, our meals were fantastic and the waitresses were all very happy and polite if given the chance to get back there i would plan a head earlier for a better hotel, but i would definatly eat at that restaurant!

This was the worst of the hotels we stayed in while in New Zealand. We arrived at 9:10 pm to be told that our rooms had been released - anyone who hasn't arrived by 9:00 is considered a no show. Luckily, the hotel wasn't full, so the desk clerk was able to reinstate our pre-paid rooms. Mighty big of her, I thought. The hotel is in exteme disarray, as it's being remodeled. I was pleased to see they offered laundry services to guests, until the desk clerk laughed and told me not to get excited - they weren't available. We stayed in the superior rooms, which smelled musty and vaguely of cigarette smoke. Tiny little packets of shampoo, no conditioner, thin and scratchy towels. I shudder to think what the average room must be like. I figure this hotel stays in business due to package tours (which is how we came to stay here). If you're planning on being in town for any length of time, find a more comfortable place to stay.

Why don'y you save yourself a little money by going into the bar next to this hotel and borrow a few napkins then proceed out into the car park and sit on the ground and put the napkins on your head and pretend that you are in a two man tent - believe me you would be warmer, more comfortable and cleaner
