“The BEST”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

I had been in Milford Sound twice, but never in Doubtful Sound, ad the reason was the higher price of the latter. When I ended up visiting Doubtful Sound I was even more impressed than with Milford Sound, because this one is three times bigger, and moreover you have an amazing trip across Manapouri lake, which I didn´t think it was especially impressive from the shore. Once you cross most of the lake you understand why people say it is that wonderful. Doubtful Sound is undoubtely worth it parying for the trip, as you won´t get to see something like that anywhere else in a warm place of the Southern Hemisphere

“Memorable Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2012

We went on the overnight trip with Fiordland Expeditions in a Premium Cabin on "Tutoko II". We will remember the trip for a long time, not just for Doubtful Sound but the boat's young crew Sean and Maria. They were both very helpful, competent, energetic and knowledgable. We shared the boat with 5 other passengers, which to my mind was just the right number. Luckily the weather was good and we had no rain. Unfortunately there was not as much wildlife as we had expected, but this did not spoil the trip.

“Wow...wow...wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2012

Staying in Te Anau, we drove to Pearl Harbour in Manapouri (15 mins away) to start our adventure with doubtfulsoundcruise.com (Fiordland Explorer Charters Ltd).
Firstly we crossed Lake Manapouri, boarded a bus and drove down a spiral road inside the mountain to see the generator room of the hydro-electric power station. Then after an amazing 3-point turn in the tunnel the bus took us over the Wilmot pass, by the only unpaved road to Doubtful Sound.
We boarded our boat, the Tasman Explorer, and headed out into the Sound. Massive, beautiful, majestic, quiet, awe inspiring are just some of the words that can be used to describe Doubtful Sound. Our guides were all enthusiasts, constantly scanning the water for wildlife (we saw seals, penguins and dolphins) and explaining their habits and habitat.
On entering the Tasman Sea and looking back it is easy to see how Captain Cook, without the aid of Google Earth, missed this one!
Great trip.

Fantastic scenery and extremely well organised tour with Real tours.it was well worth the price and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
