Our visit t to the Sound was on a cooler, rainy day. We were driving a rental car, so the rain made the drive a bit more tense than the usual festival of hair-pin turns that seems to be associated with driving in New Zealand.
The rain stopped in time for our cruise. Our operator was Jucy which ran one of the smaller boats. They did a nice job. The good part about the clouds and recent (hours recent) rain was that there were a zillion temporary waterfalls that people don't see on warm, sunny days.
We ate lunch at the lodge that sits on the edge of the carpark. We ate some kind of meat pie with an Asian (Thai I think) flavor and it was excellent. The lodge had set up the TV for the Superbowl which was about to air so we checked the score after our cruise.
