Happy to recommend this tour to visitors to the Te Anau area. Ray offers a number of stops on the way to Milford Sound, all of which are well worth the trouble, and the small group means that you are never hanging around waiting for stragglers. Really enjoyed the opportunity for delicious home cooked refreshments at midmorning at the fascinating Camp which provides a counterpoint to the lovely natural beauty you see on this trip. The boat cruise on Milford Sound was a slight disappointment (especially as we had anticipated this to be the highlight) - somehow I feel Milford Sound has been slightly oversold. The highlight for us was in taking Ray's advice to take the helicopter for a flight and snow landing on Mount Tutoko summit. This flight took us over amazing and sometimes scary looking mountaintops on the journey to our landing on the pristine snow. Ten minutes up there and we set off to return over mountain lakes that can only be seen from the air. Breathtaking, adrenalin-pumping and wonderful. We did this instead of a similar trip we had planned for Franz Joseph and I'm certain we made the right decision as the fiordland area is incredibly rugged, daunting and beautiful. The helicopter landed the other side of the Milford Tunnel where we met up with Ray and the tour, and continued back to Te Anau. We judged it to be a great day.
