“Amazing Apartment and views!”

Oaks Club Resort

We stayed in March 2008, our friends from Auckland booked it so we had no idea where or what this place was like, when I opened the door and walked to the patio I was gobsmacked and asked my friend ...did you know it had views like this. They were priceless over the lakes and mountains. I had never seen beauty like it, I cannot describe the view!

This apartment was absolutely amazing. We had a two bedroom place, the bedrooms were lavishly decorated infact the whole place was palsma TV all the mod cons. The lounge is big enough to hold couple others in sleeping beds.. All rooms are private and seperate from the living areas. Only downside was the ensuite bathroom was in the middle of the 2 bedrooms which had doors from each bedroom with no locks on! So we had to always tell each other when we were going to avoid embaressment! 1 door in the corridor would have been more practical.
There was a dining table, fully equiped kitchen and a BBQ outside provided with gas bottles. We do plan to go back to Queenstown and we will def be staying here again!
It was 4/5* luxury on a 3*star budget!

We stayed the first two nights of our Otago visit at the Oaks Club Resort. This place is the best. We've stayed with Oaks in Christchurch two years ago and definitely had to stay again. Although they said for the cheap price NZ$130 per night we would not have a room with a view however we were given a room with a view of the Lake. Very modern with heated floors and so close to the Lake where you can take the back entrance out and walk to town. The rooms are new with tea coffee making facilities, refridgerator and LCD tv on the wall. Queenstown was very hot for this time of the year March 2008 and there was no air conditioning or insect screens on the very large windows. We left them open to get some air however all these insects came in so we had to close them again. The resort is located by the lake in which we took a swim in the cool water. You can walk to town along the lake which takes 20 minutes. The Oaks club has a gym, sauna (wasn't working) free laundry and dryer which you can use and heaps of parking. It is a $10 taxi ride from the town. The beds were great. The showers are very low though - we stand at 6 feet tall and these showers are only around 4 feet. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone in fact I did today.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The room was a good size, very clean and had lovely views of the lake and mountains. The service was polite and friendly. My only complaint was there was no cable TV in the room. I would definitely recommend this hotel/resort to others.

Driving from Wanaka to Queenstown for our last nights stay before we were to fly off to Auckland, the thought of the type of hotel I booked was always on my mind. Booking a resort that has just opened in December 2008, still in completion stage of its restaurant, I was a bit concerned that my gut instinct of booking a new apartment-hotel will let me down.

Looking at the amazing view queenstown has to offer, it was a bit difficult to find this hotel, as I could not see any signpost clearly labelling the location of this hotel. Driving past it 2wice, and then i noticed a small sign to my left off Frankton Road saying 'Oaks Ridge Resort'. I quickly indicated and managed to go down a smallish hill to the lobby. Now, there were no signs here which clearly indicated where the reception area was. After 5 mins of driving down to their carpark and driving up again I managed to locate their reception

The guy at reception was great. He checked us in and took a $100 deposit (as a bond) for the room. He directed us to our room (Room 104) and we drove down to the underground parking.

After unloading our suitcases, we found the lift, but this lift only took us up from floors 5 - 9... My wife and I confused, we didnt know how to get to level 1. We saw another door across the parking lot which was a fire exit, and thought why not check if that goes down to our floor. As we entered we realised that there we were on level 4 and found the lift which took us down to floor 1.

Please note that floors 1 - 4 are seperate to floors 5 - 9. For example you will need to change lifts if your on floor 1 and you want to get to floor 8.

As we got to our room, i was somewhat unimpressed with the greyish walls and thought to myself, oh m y god what have I booked. As we got to the door and swiped our card, the door would not open... This really got me worried, so I telephoned the reception boy and he came right down with new cards (as the cards he gave us were not activated).

As he opened the door to my room, my jaw almost dropped!! I walked into a lavishly designed penthouse apartment unit. It was absolutely beautiful. It had 3 bedrooms (not 2), underfloor heating, plasma TV, brand new kitchen with a fridge, Three bathrooms, Leather Couches.. The apartment was huge! The view was amazing, views you would die for! Beds were comfy, and they even had a washing machine, dryer, microwave, dishwasher & ofcourse not to forget a Fireplace...

We had plans to go out that night into queenstown and do the gandolas, because we felt soo comfortable in the room we grabbed pizza from pizza hut and brought it back to our room.

The room opens up to a small courtyard at the back and has stairs that go down to the lake. Well you kinda have to go down a small bank at the bottom to reach the lake.

This apartment/hotel is absolutely amazing. I will be sharing my pictures of this place with all once i download them from my camera. If you are travelling with a group of ppl, this room can easily accommodate 6 adults on beds, and the lounge is big enough to hold couple others in sleeping beds.. The fireplace is excellent and kept us warm at night, as it gets kinda chilly even in summer. All rooms are private and seperate from the living areas.

This is the best accommodation i have stayed at. They rate themselves a 4 star but to me I rate this hotel as a 5 star + hotel
