“Fine food, professional staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

It had been a long trip, traveling from Greymouth to Queenstown and my wife and I where set to enjoy some good food.
Every time we dine at Lombardi, its always good
It's a hinden gem and not a lot of people know about it, and more people should
It's the lucky few that do know, that get world class food and service you can't fault
The views are to die and the place has a great feel about it
I have eaten all around the Queenstown area and Lombardi is still my fav place to go
Try tapas in the bar with a bloody-Mary and then the Alpine venison you can't go wrong

“Expectations exceeded!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

Lombardi is an absolute must when you’re in Queenstown. My wife and I dined together in May and we both thoroughly enjoyed the whole dining experience at Lombardi. We started the evening with cocktails in the bar and enjoyed the complimentary bar snacks, which are homemade by the chef. We then went through to the Library and sat by the fire and enjoyed three courses with a bottle of my favourite local pinot noir, Mt Difficulty. The staff were always attentive without being intrusive, the food was elegant with lots of different levels of flavour and texture combinations. It was a memorable experience and far exceeded our expectations.

“Not what we expected...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2012 via mobile

Lombardi was a bit disappointing for us...The ambience is lovely and the layout of the restaurant very comfortable however the issues we had during our experience related to the quality of the food and serving sizes that are unreasonably disproportionate to the prices being charged.
We ordered a cheese souffle for entre and some glazed greens to share. The cheese souffle was literally 2 mouthfuls but was very tasty. I suppose for $20, we expected a bit more in terms of serving size. For main, we ordered a pizza and the salmon dish. The pizza was small, soggy, coated with tinned tomato paste and the base tasted as though it came from a McCain Pizza Base box. For $28, we expected much better than what was served, particularly with mostly positive reviews of the restaurant on trip advisor. The salmon was charred black on top but wasn't cooked through all the way. It was also very small and the risotto serving was minuscule with a teaspoon of fish rowe.
We mentioned our thoughts in a respectful and positive way and the waiter was most professional and thoroughly apologetic. He agreed to remove the pizza from the bill and we also given a free dessert. The wait staff's efforts were most appreciated and the service was above average, however (for what would have been $70 per head) our experience was overall disappointing. We understand that everyone has bad days but when you are charging St Moritz prices you cannot expect people to be satisfied with what we experienced during our visit to this restaurant...

“Great food, amazing staff, must try!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2012 via mobile

Lombardi is one of those few restaurants that get it all right. In a picturess location like this, it is sometimes easy to rely on the view, but thats not the case here. A great menu complimented by a great wine list. Add to this staff that really know their stuff, and get the balance of being attentive, whilst giving you space, makes Lombardi a great dinning experience. For anyone worried about dinning in a hotel restaurant forget this thought, you will never know! One of the signature dishes is the wood fired lasagna. If you are looking for a cookie cutter slice of pasta sheets filled with meat and sauce you will be disappointed but if you are looking for a flavor filled explosion on your plate, give it a try. That said all the food I saw looked incredible, and others in the restaurant I saw had only smiles on their face. Thanks team I will be back.

“Nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

We had a pleasant meal for our anniversary. This place has a lovely atmosphere and the service was very good. I gather it is a new menu and there were a few issues. The seafood share plate entree had some nice elements although a large amount of bread and bread sticks were provided for 2 teaspoons of dips. The venison main was delicious. Unfortunately the lamb was disappointing. The little pot of lamb stew served with the cutlets was overcooked - dry and stringy. And burnt onto the dish. We had this replaced and while the replacement was more tender and juicy, the dish was a little bland. The desserts we tried were solid but not spectacular. Overall, it didn't quite live up to the other reviews here but was a pleasant dining experience.
