Loved the interior of the restaurant, which is richly textured with wood. Cosy and warm on a chilly spring day in Queenstown. The serving staff were responsive and cheerful as they seated us and asked for our orders.
I had the whitebait with roasted rosemary potatoes, which was the special of the day. Pretty nice whitebait though I couldn't really make out the distinctive taste of fish - could be inherently so for the whitebait rather than due to the skill of the chef. But in any case, the fritters were done nicely with the right amount of fluff and oil. There was little trace of rosemary on the potatoes but they were done well enough.
She had the ribeye steak, which was done perfectly. The meat was chewy enough and had great flavours running through. Ask for medium well if you want it done medium, as ours was a little redder than expected.
Prices were between $24-32, reasonable for the quality of food.
