“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

I booked a two night stay here after getting a deal off the internet. I did some reading on their website before booking but was very disapointed on arrival. Does not look like website. Our room was situated at the back of the motel so no view and the balcony was tiny, only just fitting a small table and 2 chairs, Very old and dated decor. The cleaning was not up to standard. I was very unhappy about the bed which looked like two single beds joint together so there was a hard bar going down the centre which makes it hard when you are trying to sleep. If I had of known this is what I was paying for I would of booked else where. Overall very unhappy

The lady we booked in with was delightful, there was no air conditioning, as on road side didnt like to leave window open due to traffic.
Next door unit kept us awake till 3am, singing playing guitar, talking loud, we told management next day, an older lady, she didnt seem to care.
Cleaning staff very friendly.
Great location, wouldnt come back.

We paid for a premier room but were upgraded a level to an executive studio, very spacious, large bathroom with shower and spa bath, good kitchen facilities, etc, well located a short walk from the downtown area. Wireless broadband was extra but not unreasonable. We were totally satisfied and would definitely stay again. Central Queenstown has a lot of bars and young people partying and we prefer to not be too close to that scene.

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor and these rooms appeared larger than those on the 2 floors above.

Certainly not a 4.5 star apartment. Rooms not cleaned to a good standard. Dead fly on windowsill for the entire length of our stay. Room stank of curry, could not get rid of the smell. The room is definitely overpriced.

Used washing machine in the laundry room which cost $4 which is twice as much as any other hotel I've stayed in, in NZ.

Our view on our patio was the back of a hotel and could see no lake or mountains. There were quite a few people peering in at us from the top balcony of the adjacent hotel. Not too good if you like your own privacy.

Overall ok rooms but definitely not worth the money.

We are disappointed with what we thought was 4.5 star accommodation and if we had not prepaid we would not have completed our stay. The room was dated and the furishings tired looking. The balcony was tiny and overlooked rubbish and part of the hotel next door. The room was extremely stuffy and while we were provided with a fan when we complained it didnt help much. The cleaniness was a problem for us, while on the surface it looked clean when we entered, the cupboards were dirty and cups were put away unwashed. The bathroom contained a spa but it looked far too dirty to use and the shower curtain was mouldy and manky. The bathroom exhaust fan didnt work very well leaving the bathroom hot and full of condensation, which meant it was extemely uncomfortable to be in there too long. Our room was full of sandflies when we arrived and were told to get our own fly spray. There wasnt enough parking for everyone which left us to park halfway down the street on a few occasions. All in all we were disappointed with the quality of this accommodation and felt the rating and pictures on the net did not add up.

This place is qualmark rated 4 star plus and definitely deserves this rating. The rooms are modern, very spacious and quite clean. The spa baths are a great addition to the bathrooms and the beds are huge and comfortable. Our room had a kitchenette with everything we needed during our stay and our rooms were serviced well each day. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were given a late checkout which was a nice end to our stay. The downfall was that we were given a small amount of milk considering the length of our stay, and told we would have to pay for more if we used it all. The internet was also quite pricey, considering the other places we stayed during our trip all gave us internet for free. It would have been nice to have been given even just a small 50 megabites for basic internet/ email use. It is just these small things that take it from 5 to 4 stars for me. However, given the reasonable price, I would stay here again and recommend to others.

I enjoyed my stay here. Beds were comfortable, rooms had everything I needed, and everything worked as it should. My only gripe is the pricey wifi but then this is a NZ thing not just this inn. Short walk from downtown Queenstown but does involve a hill which may be a problem if you're out of shape.
