Very clean. Nicely (simply) appointed, but I wouldn't call it 'charming'. Great customer service. Excellent location to town (short walk). Some street noise thru the large widows, but otherwise quiet on the 2nd floor. There are wood floors throughout, so a room on the 1st floor might be noisy, especially if it's close to the reception area. Coin-op laundry facility was convenient. We had a nice 2 night stay in March. For the price, It would have been nice if the continental breakfast were included.

We stayed here for three nights in June, following a snowstorm that delayed us, and many others, in getting to Queenstown during its Winter Festival. We arrived a day later than planned due to roads being closed but were able to extend our stay a day on the other end without problem.

The facility is gleaming, with wonderful beds and sleek, modern furnishings, very cool bathrooms and great personal care products. We had a well-equipped kitchenette with microwave and appreciated the nice selection of coffee, tea and cookies. You can have breakfast on-site if you want, though we prepared our own. The location is unbeatable - just across the street from a path to the town center and within walking distance of plenty of attractions. While the staff is not exactly warm and fuzzy, they were helpful when necessary. We didn't find the place noisy, and it was pretty full when we were there. The parking is a bit tight, but worked, and there is plenty of street parking, as well. Best of all, the price was just unbeatable - huge value for the money. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The location is great and the staff were friendly, but the wooden floorboards are very noisy, and the room I stayed in seemed to have no soundproofing. Every sound outside the door could be heard, including the fax machine at reception down the corridor, and conversations between staff as if they were taking place in the room. This was not a peaceful stay. There is a sign at reception that asks guests to refrain from wearing high heel shoes, ostensibly to avoid damage to the wooden floor, but surely this refers to the noise problem. In addition the air conditioning must be faulty as my room stank of bacon during the morning - the odours from the kitchen seemed to be piped directly into the room! This was one of the worst stays I have ever had.

“Unfriendly staff, otherwise decent accommodation”

Stayed here during the Christmas/New Year's period and - in contrast to all other Queenstown accommodation which was exorbitantly priced at this time - the Coronation Lodge charged a comparatively decent rate. It also is only a 4-5 minute stroll to the city centre, which was great. The decor was very basic but clean, as it appeared to be a fairly new lodge. However, any rooms on the lower level are bound to have excessive noise during the mornings, when people check out or go to the breakfast room at the same level. When I asked whether I could move to another room upstairs, this was flatly rejected, without explanation, even though there WERE rooms available (I guess it was just too much effort for them). This spoilt my experience in Coronation Lodge quite a bit.

My sister and I stayed at the Coronation Lodge for a few days in August and it was a great place to stay. The lodge is just a short walk through the Queenstown Gardens to the central downtown area. The room was great. We had a lot of bed space, and there were bed warmers in all of them (something you would think would be standard in NZ in winter, but really isn't). Plus, there really are few bad views in Queenstown, so the deck was nice. The room was extremely clean, and is relatively new. The only thing that could have been better was the limited guest parking, but that isn't much of a problem because the area has a lot of street parking if you don't get one of the garage spots.
