Just had the absolute pleasure of spending 5 nights at this wonderful hotel.

From the moment you step into the hotel you feel completely welcome and this is a credit to the wonderful staff throughout the hotel. The staff make you feel as though you are staying in a small luxury b & b not a hotel.
We stayed on the 6th floor and had lovely views of the cable car and the surrounding mountains. The room was fantastic, on the large size with a gorgeous bathroom, illy coffee machine, bose stereo that the tv runs through, ipod doc, all the mod cons you need. The rooms were so quiet we never heard anyone or anything in the corridor.
Our rate gave us wifi daily which was great, breakfast downstairs at the beautifully appointed cafe and was simply delicious, espresso style coffee, eggs cooked to order, all the usual hot choices, yoghurts, smoothies, smoked salmon, you name it, they had it! By the 2nd day the staff in the cafe knew our coffee choice and the way we liked our eggs, exceptional service.

The location is second to none just a 2 minute walk to the heart of the town, making it really easy to walk to all the fantastic restaurants Queenstown has to offer.

We loved the hotel and would highly recommend it!

Room Tip: if you can spring for the executive rooms

Great location in the heart of Queenstown - good level of service - and an ideal base to experience Queenstown and it's environs.
Rooms are well appointed if a little on the small size compared to Sofitel Auckland.

Room Tip: Executive floor -

Hotel is situated just 1 minute walk from town centre. Rooms are beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. All of the staff were helpful, professional, friendly and made us feel special. When we arrived early at the hotel and expected to have to wait for our room, the Hotel Receptionist arranged for complimentary coffee and croissants while we waited which was only 30mins. It was a lovely start to our 2 day break after having had a hectic start to the day.
Having stayed at this hotel several times before, we noticed a marked improvement throughout the hotel since the new French Manager arrived mid 2012.
The Manager makes a point of speaking to hotel guests whenever the opportunity arises and can be seen in the cafe at breakfast and around the hotel throughout the day until late evening.
Chef, Simon Gault opened a restaurant within the Sofitel early Dec 2012 - the Hotel Manager showed us through Simon Gault's restaurant which looked very inviting. We will definately try it next time.
The hotel cafe is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast selection was very good. Dinner - menu selection, french style, was very good, meals enjoyable. Highly recommend the Duck a l'Orange.
Being a member of Accor we used our free night and booked when a special was on so received an excellant rate.
The only downside to our stay was the location of our room which was on a lower floor with no view (room is approx 1-2 metres below the road (mountain side) which gives no privacy from street)
Next time we will request a higher floor with city view.
For excellant service and great location we would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Sofitel on our first trip to Queenstown back in May 2010.This hotel boasts of fantastic location and luxurious furnishings.

Our Superior room had impressive lake views which we enjoyed from our own private French style balcony. The room was beautifully appointed and spacious, the bed was very comfortable.

We enjoyed the location and comfort of this hotel; overall it’s a wonderful place to stay in Queenstown. We have stayed at two other properties in Queenstown since but so far the Sofitel is our favorite hotel in Queenstown. We can’t wait to go back!!!

Room Tip: Rooms with mountain views are the best
