From the staff to the rooms - this is our favorite place in Queenstown to stay!
Alex on reception truly was amazing - even with a room change involved it wasn't a problem at all. She made our stay so nice. Fab cocktails in the bar, yummy breaky.
This is the best locations in Queenstown, so central to everywhere.

I travel a lot for work, both domestically in the States and Internationally to APAC. Without question, The Spire may be the best, most well-appointed, hotel I've ever stayed in. Why? The staff was professional, without overbearing. Each of the 3-4 front desk staff remembered my name, what activities I had scheduled and completed, and even said hi at the gym in town. Housekeeping was flexible to my odd schedule and cleaned the room within minutes of the request. The rooms are appointed exactly how I wish my apartment was - working gas fireplace, Eames chair, touchscreen remote control with TV inset in mantle, wet bar, tub with shutters opening to TV room, heated towel rack in the bathroom, high end toiletries, etc. Every detail was perfect - added is that the hotel is so new I felt like the first guest. Finally, the location is ideally set 2 streets from the main hustle, making it feel equally central and removed. Scores a perfect 100% - a must in Queenstown.

Thank you so much for your feedback Kyle and your endorsement of the hotel and the team.
It was great to have you with us and we loved sharing our experiences in Queenstown with you - we love showing our slice of New Zealand to visitors.
Great customer service is the point of difference and really makes a hotel stay part of the overall experience not just a place to stop for the night - we want the time spent with us to create as many memories as the amazing scenery, activities and dining you will look back on after you return home.
That's what brings people back again and we see a lot of familiar faces among our guests.
We hope we will welcome you back to The Spire again to do it all over!

Best wishes

The Spire is a beautiful international boutique hotel, with just 10 rooms. Situated in the heart of Queenstown this would be considered one of the most personalized stays in the world. The attention, food and service are unrivaled. Certainly a must stay while New Zealand.

Thank you for your review Nick, it was a pleasure to be your host.

Boutique and personal service is what we live by and it certainly makes the difference between The Spire experience and that of the larger chain hotels, and that is the reason we have been recognised with so many awards over the past few years. We enjoy sharing our love of the region with our guests, we want to see everyone go away from Queenstown with lasting memories – and the hotel should be part of that experience not merely a place to stay.

Safe travels, we hope to welcome you back to New Zealand again one day!

Best wishes,
James

If you are thinking of staying in Queenstown and you want to stay somewhere beautiful that is small enough to ensure your stay is a personal experience and amazing stay here.
Cannot say anything negative. Dinner and breakfast also lovely. Rooms very well appointed and warm. Staff very friendly and want to make your stay a pleasure. Very well located also. Walk everywhere.

Thanks for your review Angela, much appreciated.
We are all about personal service and the little touches that make the hotel part of the travel experience, not just a place to sleep. The hotel has won a number of awards worldwide and we work hard to deliver that experience every time.
Queenstown is a real gourmet destination so the dining offer is very important to us, glad you enjoyed your visits to the bar – we see so many guests from other hotels around town as well, our Central Otago focussed menu is gaining a strong following and becoming a feature of the local scene.

See you again next time you are travelling to New Zealand!
Regards,
James

We (my sister and I) recently stayed at The Spire for 7 nights starting on 12 September. The only reason we choose this hotel was because of the gushing reviews we had read on Trip Advisor. Believe the hype. We absolutely loved our stay. The rooms are gorgeous and spacious with a fabulous fireplace and Eames chair. Our room had a lovely view of the Church but you can't go wrong with any of the rooms. The hotel bar and restaurant at No5 Church Lane were great and as a hotel guest you could have your breakfast and cocktails here or at Eichardts. The food was really delicious. The hotel also went out and picked up Fergburgers for us on a couple of occasions. What other hotel gets takeaway for you? And the location is fantastic as it's in the centre of everything. But it's the staff that make this place exceptional and a huge thank you to Alex and Gemma (you guys are great) and also to James, Charlie, Paolo, Paddy and Lauren for the incredibly thoughtful, attentive and warm service. Many thanks for everything. We are definitely coming back in the new year. Helena & Judy

Room Tip: All rooms are the same in size and layout. We loved the rooms facing the church especially.

Lovely to see your feedback Judy, it was a pleasure to have you with us earlier this month, seven nights flew by pretty quickly! Thank you for your thoughts and your note to the team, looking after guests with the little extra touches is what boutique service is all about and we love going the extra mile. I know the team over at Eichardt’s loved seeing you back again for cocktails and tapas as well, it’s a unique offering to enable our guests from either hotel to enjoy their included breakfast or cocktails at both venues, I am not aware of any other two hotels anywhere with this facility.
Just 3 hours from Australia’s East coast makes Queenstown such a great getaway destination, we’ll be seeing you again soon without doubt!

Best wishes from all the team at The Spire and Eichardt’s,
James

We had a most excellent stay here at the beginning of our New Zealand and Australian holiday. The staff at the Spire is top notch. The room was beautiful and very spacious. We had 2 twin beds a fire place, balcony overlooking out at the mountains and lake and the village. Breakfast was terrific. We had early departures each morning for our tours and the kitchen opened early for us to have breakfast prior to our departures. The staff of this hotel made our visit to Queenstown a very memorable one. Loved it! The only problem we had on our stay here was that we had to leave!

Room Tip: The only issue is that if you are staying at the front of the hotel, there is a nightclub across fro...

Thank you for your review Randy, it was such a pleasure to have you with us on your New Zealand vacation - my team and I were delighted to make it special for you.

With such a central location it is the perfect base for all the activities in the region, and right among the atmosphere and action of the town. It's been a great winter season and we look forward to Spring and Summer to come.

We hope to see you in Queenstown again next year!

James

It was good, maybe not great. The location is good, tucked away just on the periphery of the queenstown cbd and within easy walk of the waterfront. The room was very nice, comfortable and well appointed. The staff were friendly and helpful and as it's a boutique hotel the service is and personal.

The elements which detracted from the stay were the very loud nightclub located in the basement of a nearby building over there is a busy pub. The pub is fine but the nightclub was open until 0400 or at least it sounded like it. When the door was shut on the nightclub you could hear it a little but when people entered or left the volume was massively increased. I struggled to sleep even with earplugs.

The restaurant is just ok. There are only limited views from the rooms. The coffee was terrible (they hadn't cleaned the machine recently or burnt the beans or something). I find in room pod coffee better(e.g. Sofitel).

I think the owner also owns eichardts which is a big step up from the spire.

Overall I would be happy to stay again if the noise issue was improved.

Room Tip: Bring earplugs

Thank you for your feedback Leigh, I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
I am pleased your enjoyed your stay with us on the whole, although disappointed with elements which clearly were an issue.
I am sorry you were disturbed by noise from outside the hotel, based on your note I have contacted the owners to make them aware of the issue and to come to a solution, and notified the council to ensure that regulations are adhered to in relation to external noise. We do have reception staffed 24 hours a day so that any guest issues can be dealt with immediately .
In Queenstown we take our coffee seriously and ours is usually very well received, and certainly machines are maintained daily across both our hotels. A cause of bitterness can be over extraction, if your coffee was packed too tightly and effected this way or any other I apologise, and would expect any of my team to instantly replace a cup if notified. I know how important good coffee is and we take pride in delivering a quality product, I am sorry your experience was not as good as it should have been this time.
Leigh I have sent a personal email, please don't hesitate to contact me directly if I can assist further I would love the opportunity to put the unsatisfactory elements of your stay behind you and deliver the excellent experience The Spire and Eichardt's are renowned for.
Kind regards,
James Cavanagh
