“lakeside accomodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

We have just returned from a week at beautiful Queenstown, staying at Villa Del Lago. I can highly recommend this as upmarket family accomodation.
We travelled with grandparents, so the layout of the apartment was fabulous. They had a downstairs room with ensuite for privacy, the kids had a room at the top of the three-level villa. The villas have a beautiful outlook across the lake to the Remarkables.
The apartment is wonderfully warm, great showers, full kitchen and lots of space. The furniture and fittings are all high quality and tastefully arranged. Unreal gas fireplace and underfloor heating in the bathrooms.
Only drawback is stairs if you are not highly mobile and the parking can be a bit tricky, given the hillside location. A small thing would be an additional toilet upstairs, as our kids sounded like elephants thundering up and down the stairs.
Staff were great and apartments are serviced daily.
We found the apartments were a great distance to town - just follow the path along the lake. The flat walk comes out at the Botanic Gardens and takes about 20 minutes. The huge picture windows from the lounge and bedrooms offer brilliant uninterrupted views. Just five minutes from the airport by car and about the same or less drive into town.
The office has a free dvd collection to keep the kids amused at night and free wifi.
Really good quality accomodation

Room Tip: The three bedroom apartments offer stunning views. Did not get a chance to check views from the othe...

Many thanks for your review, these are important to us! We are glad you had a great time and the weather was good to you during your stay. We enjoyed seeing the wee bright faces popping in for the DVD's, they are really popular with our guests. Look forward to seeing you back again one day!

All the rooms overlook The Remarkables&Lake Wakatipu, and the room itself was special. We intended to just use the room as a base for QT adventure but we spent a lot of time relaxing on the balcony just because of the views . Modern, comfortable, and the service by the 2 young women in charge was first-class, even though they appeared to be on their own. Only issue is the steps, but to get those views, you have to stay on the steep slope of the lakeside. We will stay there again next time, for sure.

Villa Del Lago was a serene retreat from the busyness of Queenstown central. We enjoyed action packed days in Queenstown but loved returning to our peaceful haven. Our hosts were warm and friendly and the apartment was delightful. Unsurpassed view to the lake. There were quite a few steps (about 100 to get to our apartment). Those less able-bodied may want to request an apartment with fewer steps.

The pictures already gave me some inkling but I was blown away by the heated floor tiles in the bathrooms. The view was pristine and with our 3 bedroom apartment the high ceiling just gave it a feeling of space and expanse. It was a cold snap that hit Queenstown today and the fireplace came in really handy. The dining table faces the Lake Wakatipu. Its just breathtaking watching the boats and the odd helicopter whizzing past this big lake from your balcony. If I were to come back to Queenstown again I would choose VDL.

Just want to give 2 thumbs up to the lovely couple manning the front desk. They really made us feel welcome and gave us many tips of tourist wisdom.

Let me say my few words of delight.
Booked in advance 2 bedroom lakefront villa with unrestricted view for 2 couples.First night were accomodated by mistake in the villa on the top block next to reception.Next day were shifted to the bottom block we had asked before.Since it made some inconvenience to us, Keith, the host , gave us discount and a bottle of wine as an indemnity. So,the hosts were fully exonerated and we started to enjoy our short eventful holiday in the wonderful city of Queenstown.

3 level huge - so huge that you can get lost :) - gorgeous villa, view - to die for ! - worth to stay here.
Upper level is a living room and kitchen, lower level - two bedrooms and laundry.Kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need.
Carpeting on the floor everywhere, spotless clean.Windows floor to ceiling.Fireplace.Lovely balcony to enjoy the breathtaking view.
Don't want to repeat other reviews, I can only confirm that all was perfect.

Bedrooms are not identical though. One is ensuite, another has a private bathroom. One has flat screen TV, another doesn't have TV at all.
No safe in rooms, so If you need it - you can find it at reception.

Hosts are very friendly, attentive , full of charm and humour.Don't hesitate to ask for their help and advice.

Not centrally located though, but if you want to stay in peace and quiet and be surrounded by nature - this is your place!

Do not be mistaken thinking that it's situated right on the lakeshore : the location is on the hill and to reach lakeshore you have to walk downstairs and cross the road.

Had a week's stay with our three adult children - lots of space for the five of us, nice and warm and a lovely quiet spot! Amazing view and loved being so close to the walkway into town, 20 minute walk into town for our morning coffee. Caught the water taxi into town one night off the little jetty out front, lots of fun. Fully equipped kitchen, would definitely recommend.
