“Expensive and very Limited area”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

This place was a huge disappointment. Having skied in the US and Europe we were excited to get to ski in the Southern Hemisphere. They have only 4 lifts, a handful of beginners run on the slush and ice and lots of pretty difficult blue and black runs. My kids who have skied a lot before pretty much hated it.

The runs are very steep, the bottom is slushy and icy and some other parts too you are skiing on brown snow avoiding the rocks and grass.

They make snow all the time but get very little real snow which is why you are skiing on slush at the bottom and avoiding grass in other places.

And to cap it all they charge you $90 for a one day lift pass for the four lifts!!!!

Apparently this is one of the best places to ski in New Zealand. Our friends skied at another resort in the North Island and got to ski for 30mins over the whole week. I guess we will head to Japan next time!!!

“Great facility, but icy and slippery... 'cement mountain'”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

Coronet Peak is 20min from the centre of Queenstown with good parking, great facilities and friendly staff. It also offers night skiing at certain times of the season.

It is lower (altitude) than some other ski parks and really not worth going to if there hasn't been recent solid snow.

This park is really hard work - especially for beginners or those with lower skills/confidence.

There is a good reason the locals all call this place "Cement Mountain". In my opinion you are way way better off driving the extra 40 mins and heading over to Cardrona. Better still stay in Wanaka and ski Cardrona every day (Treble Cone if you are more proficient).

“Well organised, great instructors and expensive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

We spent a whole day at Coronet Peak. We made the most of it and we had ski lessons and put the kids in ski school as well. It wasn't a cheap exercise and didn't get much change from AUD$600! But well worth it. We didn't come home champion skiiers, especially as we can't practise in the tropics!

The instructors were good and must admire them for their patience.

The kids had a ball and loved the snow and were confident on the skis and were happy with their instructors.

“Good skiing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

It is a good ski-field for it's many varied runs.A shorter travel time from Queenstown and the outlook is breathtaking.
